This is a D9P that I had to rush through (1 Day) as My Aunt is not doing well and I wanted her to be able to see it before it was to late. She loved it and was able to express that to me today. It is not great by any means but I knew she wouldn't care.

Lacelady 08-24-2009 03:45 PM

Great job, she looks all cuddled up under it, lovely memory.

eparys 08-24-2009 03:49 PM

What a pretty quilt - I am so glad you got it done so your aunt can enjoy it!

dunster 08-24-2009 03:51 PM

That's a wonderful quilt, and so thoughtful of you to make it for her. Too often we don't give a gift simply because the recipient "wouldn't have much time to enjoy it." I went to the funeral today of a wonderful friend, a quilter, who has been at death's door many times over the short time that I've known her. More than 2 years ago, several of her friends made her a quilt, even though at that time she was "not expected to make it." That quilt meant so much to her, and she had over 2 years to enjoy it! I wasn't part of the group that made the quilt, because I was a brand new quilter at the time and just learning to sew a quarter inch seam, but that quilt was mentioned today at the funeral and I was so happy that I had been there when they presented it to her.

Looks great and looks loved! Great you got it done quick and she can enjoy it for a time

Mousie 08-24-2009 03:54 PM

aww, upNorth, don't make me cry. That is just so sweet of you, and you sure are fast. Motivated by love, no doubt. hugs, and hope auntie goes peacefully.

Up North 08-24-2009 03:55 PM

I am so glad i did it even tho in my rush there were puckers and no time to redo them. It has been a stressful couple of weeks and I was determined to do one for her. She was alert enough to comment on the colors and tell me it was warm and such and special to her. That is all I needed!

Thank you for sharing, and encouraging us to actually do these acts of love and kindness and not just think about them.

Thank You everyone for the kind words. You have no idea how much they mean to me right now. In the Picture she was on her way to a nursing home. We just were not able to do it ourselves. It was a bitter sweet day.

Up North, I just know that quilt has so much love and care put into it. I believe people can feel that in the gifts that are given in that manner....puckers and all. So glad she can enjoy it, and it will add a special, warm presence while in the nursing home.

joeyoz 08-24-2009 06:32 PM

It is a disappearing 9 patch, I had the blocks already cut just had to sew, sew, sew! I usually cut 5 inch squares for my DGD to sew. I used what I had.

Bevanger 08-25-2009 05:37 AM

I love the pic of her all cuddled up in your beautiful quilt.

RedGarnet222 08-25-2009 06:31 AM

It is never to late to do something for someone. I have found that it is the nice things I didn't do that I regret, not the love things I did, when people pass away.

This quilt is a labor of love and I am sure she treasures it. She looks like she is happy for the attention.

Quilt4u 08-25-2009 07:19 AM

I just LOVE the Disappearing 9 Patch...we taught it recently at our Quilt guild, and the ladies are showing up at every meeting with new ways to put it together. It is so creative!

Thanks for the picture of your dear little aunt enjoying her quilt. That was just such a wonderful show of love you did making it for her. Bless you both!!
