I went to Walmart or Home Depot and bought the plastic rods that you would normally use to cover a shower curtain rod. I cut them to size and used them on the rungs of my ladder. Since my ladder was old, I did this to keep any dirt off of my quilts. You might want to do it to keep the wood stain from transferring to your quilts.

Im so glad you put this out there! My first thoughts were "I hope she seals the stain with a clear varnish!!" But I love the shower curtain cover idea. I would STILL seal all the stained areas of your ladder and use the plastic covers. You can never be too careful....
