Thank you for sharing, you are so fortunate. I just love the simplicity of it but yet she put her heart and soul into this quilt. Hand stitching is an art.

Oh you are so lucky to have this. I hope you will document the story of your family and somehow attach it to the quilt. Maybe make a pocket to stitch on the back with the information safely tucked inside. What a piece of history you have.

The quilt was made by my great grandmother, Mary Tennessee Eastman Currey. She was born in Knoxville, TN in 1840. She died in 1921 in Nashville, TN. She served as a nurse during the Civil War in a hospital in Columbus, GA, where her husband was a doctor. This quilt was probably made during the early 1900's. It measures 70"x76". My mother had it quilted in 1975 and gave it to me as a wedding present. The small squares are 1/2". It is hand pieced and quilted.
