A quilt for mom
2 Attachment(s)
My mother celebrated her 99th birthday last June. I put the call out to the family requesting everyone send me hand prints. The half that responded each got their own block. Those that didn't were placed in a family block with a stock hand print background. Had they all responded, it would have been a reversible quilt but as it is, I was able to fit everything on the front. The prints were done on copy paper, then scanned or photographed and emailed to me. I designed the quilt in my EQ, printed the blocks on PFD cotton, and pieced and quilted it on my domestic machine.
Sadly, we lost mom last last month and the quilt has been returned to me but will forever have a place of honor in my home. |

Wonderful tribute from a loving daughter to a very loved Mom. You certainly were blessed to be able to share life with your Mom for a significant length of time. A life to celebrate. I hope you and your family will enjoy the quilt you made for her. It is truly a treasure.

That is beautiful. So sorry for your loss. Our Aunt just celebrated her 100th birthday on December 29th. She never married so doesn't have any children. Your quilt is a treasure.

I am so sorry for your loss. I think the fact that your mom saw and held the quilt would mean the world to you.
|
She was the baby of her family. Her oldest sister lived to102 and that was her goal but she'd been fighting pneumonia since before Thanksgiving but she lost the fight on the 30th. Her WW2 era Singer, which still works, is coming to me as well.

Glad you got as much done as you can, with the sometimes slow response of family. I know how hard it is to get family to do little things like a quilt block for someone!
So glad she got to see what she did before her passing. I am sure it makes you feel good to know you did as much s you did. You will cherish it for many years. Quilt hugz for all, Mariah |
