I started this one shortly after doing the one for K-M, my oldest. I have to press it and do the boarders yet. I bought the batting for it yesterday. I am trying to decide if I should make up a few more tops and then quilt them all one right after the other. That way I will get more familiar with loading them on the table without a big break in between.

Is that applique on those blocks? If so, it's pretty!
Pretty quilt!!

beachlady 03-13-2009 07:28 AM

Very nice girly quilt.

sewbusy 03-13-2009 07:30 AM

That is beautiful, you will be so happy with it once it is quilted. Sounds like you have a new quiltind machine. You will learn to love it I am sure and putting the quilts in will soon be second nature to you. Really!!!! Good Luck.

cutebuns 03-13-2009 07:54 AM

The one block is embroidered, the pattern came free when I put in a different order through emblibrary.com The good thing about the embroidery machine is you can do other things while it is working, I did a lot of the other square while it was doing it's thing, just took time out to rehoop the fabric every once in a while, it only being one color gave me lots of time.

My quilting machine is new, I have done only one quilt on it. So I am probably going to have to watch the video again before getting the quilt on, that is why I am thinking if I get a few done and do then back to back it will ingrain the process in my brain. Good thing I have lots of fabric and ideas running around in my head. though I wouldn't mind someone else coming out and with more tops to practice with. Even if it is just to watch them.

MollieSue 03-13-2009 07:54 AM

Very nice!!! I love what you did with those blocks - applique? :-)

tlrnhi 03-13-2009 07:55 AM

I'm thinking yes....do up some tops, then quilt, quilt, quilt. Practice and repeating is good.

sewjoyce 03-13-2009 07:56 AM

Really beautiful! And I love the embroidery design!!

Jim's Gem 03-13-2009 08:11 AM

Looks beautiful. The embroidery just sets if off. Have fun learning and using your new quilting machine.

RedGarnet222 03-13-2009 08:17 AM

Wow that is very pretty! Nice job on the embroidery. Looking forward to seeing how you quilt it.

dreamer2009 03-13-2009 08:36 AM

What a lovely quilt.
Very pleasing to the eyes.

reneebobby 03-13-2009 09:14 AM

Very pretty, I agree make a bunch of tops and quilt away so you have it down pat.

Shemjo 03-13-2009 09:17 AM

Very pretty quilt. Have fun with your machine whenever you decide to quilt it!

Quilt4u 03-13-2009 12:34 PM

Very nice.

mpspeedy 03-13-2009 12:56 PM

Looks great,

I know what you mean about setting it up on the machine. The sandwhiching and basting are the parts I hate the most. My friend who has a homesize longarming machine admitted that it took her longer to set it up than it did to do the quilting. Unfortuneately all the steps in making a quilt are not as fun as some of the other parts.

pocoellie 03-13-2009 01:21 PM

Very pretty!!!

SulaBug 03-13-2009 01:47 PM

Your quilt is so pretty!! I just love the colors & the patterns you have used to make it with. I especially love the ME, it really sets it off. Thank you for sharing with all of us here on the quilting board.
:D :D :D

cutebuns 03-13-2009 03:27 PM

Thank you every one for the generous words. The border is now on it. Just need to do a little pressing. I am going to have to start looking at my wall of fabric to pull the colors for the next one.

It took me a long time to get the first quilt on the table mostly because I kept having to go back and do it again and again. Watch the video in between etc. Go back and fix a little of this and a little of that. I am sure after the next few quilts I will get faster and I will be able to get them on and off in a timely fashion. Practice. I have been sewing for a long time so the piecing came pretty easy to me. So the big machine is a bit more of a challenge. it is one I like though. And frankly after having to try and get a few quilts done on my other machine, I will take having to fuss with it to get it on the big table.

I'm excited to see what you do with it on your new big machine! That is a really great job on the embroidery and I do love your choices for fabric! Are the other quilts you are going to get done the same pattern? That one is a beauty! I can't wait to see what you do next!

Marcia 03-13-2009 05:23 PM

Your fabrics are beautiful and the machine embroidery really makes the quilt. I cannot wait to see it with borders and quilting. Great job!!!

gcathie 03-13-2009 05:29 PM

Very pretty colors...and yeah I would put some tops together to for just the reason you said.....gives you good practice and even take notes......I forget to easy....:-)

littlehud 03-13-2009 07:20 PM

Very pretty. Love the pinks.

cutebuns 03-13-2009 07:26 PM

They are not colors I would pick for me, but my 11 year old just loves them. I even had a 14 year old offer to adopt it. I have a lot of fun doing the embroidery work. There is just so much you can do with it. it brings a whole new aspect to it. Though not all my quilts end up with it. I have never done the same quilt twice. Though my mom did copy one I did for the other bunk in my nephews room. And I have only done one or two that I have copied from a magazine. I have a binder that has a large selection of blocks in it and I go through the book and try to pick ones that I think will go together. So far I have done a pretty good job of it. Some times it gets me in trouble though, Like when I did my sisters quilt, shown in an earlier post, the one block is called Sarah's choice, that is her name, and the one I picked to go with it had so many pieces. And I was of course on a tight schedule to get it done. It helps to already have a large selection of fabric to look at. I love a good sale and tend to stock up and then don't need to worry about having to pay full price for it. I am finding a hard time with the batting though. Having enough on hand takes up a lot of space.

I am horrible for taking notes, though I would put stickies around the machine and table to give me hints when I am doing it, I would only have to do it once and then they would be there, if any one wants to volunteer for that.....

chairjogger 03-13-2009 08:28 PM

wow ! I love it !! Wild !!

And..that is a lot of work !!!

Bevanger 03-14-2009 05:12 AM

VERY VERY PRETTY :D

cutebuns 03-14-2009 10:20 AM

Thank you, it was a lot of fun to do. I prefer to work with bright colors but have worked with everything under the sun. I like to match the quilt to the new owner. One of the things that my DH wants for me for my birthday is for me to make one for me, it will probably be the hardest for me to do.

Debbie1 03-14-2009 01:20 PM

Love it!

Evelynquilts 03-14-2009 04:10 PM

Beautiful quilt!! You mention your quilting machine? What kind do you have? That's on my "to get list" in the future..so I'm always curious as to what machine someone has.
