annmarie 11-04-2007 08:25 AM

Looks like the applique is all needle turned AND then you echo quilted around that?? WOW - very impressive. Beautiful quilt.

ShellyQ 11-04-2007 04:54 PM

Gorgeous quilt and that's one cute pup too. I love applique work and yours is a very fine example

stitchinMamaw 11-04-2007 10:36 PM

Hi , this is Ann . That is a beautiful quilt . also puppy ! Your applique , is that needle turn or fusible ? I haven't tried anything that big yet ! I think the yellow sure sets off the other colors in your quilt. Keep up the good work !

weste 11-05-2007 03:19 AM

I cut the shape out sprayed starched it and laid the template on it then ironed the edges around the template then appliqued it. I know clear as mud. lol

stitchinMamaw 11-06-2007 10:38 AM

I considered trying the applique where you sew interfacing to the back of your applique . I was wondering if anyone has tried this . Seems like there would be a problem with the slit you cut in the back to turn it ! I have been using heat"n'bond lite for my appliques.

Beautiful JOb! I lov your choice of colors and fabrics!

Rebecca Chambley 11-06-2007 03:44 PM

I use the lite weight fusable on all my appliques, and the slit in the back dosen't cause me any problems. Makes all my appliques neat and tidy, easy to work with, and I can press my appliques down, and they stay for the stitching.

weste 11-06-2007 03:49 PM

Even if you do needle turn?

Rebecca Chambley 11-06-2007 03:53 PM

I've never done needle turn, I have a applique stitch on my machine for left or right side to stitch down my appliques, so thats what I use.

weste 11-06-2007 03:57 PM

I really enjoyed making that quilt. I could take the squares where ever I went and work on it. I do some other appl with my machine.

Rebecca Chambley 11-06-2007 04:02 PM

I Never learned how to do needle turn applique, But why could'nt you do it with the fuseable as well? I understand the concept, Would it not work?

Shadow Dancer 11-06-2007 09:21 PM

Beautiful! And your puppy is SOOO cute! :)

Blue Bell 11-12-2007 04:02 PM

Love your dog. You did a great job on your quilt. Love your applique and patchwork. Good job. Thanks for sharing.

Feathers 02-18-2008 06:40 AM

Your quilt is gorgeous, Weste but Bandit would be my favorite "cuddle" bug. How cute is he! He looks like either a Llaso Alpso (spelling this always throws me  ) or a Shitz Szu (dang, spelling these names is a challenge)! I had a Llasa for a number of years and he was a love but had been badly abused by previous owners so I never quite trusted him with anyone but me. He was very brain damaged by the abuse. My friend raised Shitz Szu's...they are darling dogs, too. Thanks for sharing both your quilt and your baby.

Joan 02-18-2008 08:01 AM

Your quilt is beautiful! I love the combination of the applique and pieced look--the yellow blocks are just a perfect background for the flowers....(and it goes without saying that your dog is just darling!!!!!!)

weste 02-18-2008 01:21 PM

Bandit is a Shih Tzu. The love of my life. He all most died 2 wks ago. His immune (sp) system is eating up his red blood cells. He is better but has a way to go

Feathers 02-18-2008 02:32 PM

Oh! I'm so sorry your baby is having medical problems. Hope he'll soon be better. He's darling.

Celeste 02-18-2008 02:36 PM

Quilt = beautiful, dog= cute!

jbsstrawberry 02-18-2008 02:52 PM

Both are just as cute as they can be....hope your little puppers keeps getting better!!!

Rebecca Chambley 02-18-2008 06:42 PM

What was causing Bandits, red blood cells to do that. How are they treating him? How did they discover it? What where his symptons?

live2teach 02-18-2008 06:46 PM

Awww...what a cute picture and a beautiful quilt.

weste 02-19-2008 05:20 AM

hey found it by doing blood work. He would fall over and lose control of his bladder. His urine was bright yellow. Couldn't stand up. I don't know what caused it. Also was drinking alot of water.

ania755 02-19-2008 06:16 AM

The quilts are great and the dog even greater....He looks so innocent..how did he get its name? Life is unfair... :D :D
