I managed to get to the show put on by Gems of the Prairie Quilt Guild of Peoria, IL, about an hour from home. It was a really nice show, over 500 items on display and a great selection of vendors. They held it at the Avanti Dome in Pekin, which is a sports arena. This was a great venue--huge and open, airy, good light, and fake turf flooring was easier on the feet than concrete after walking for hours looking at all the eye candy.
The view when you walked in...this was the right half of the arena, quilts to the left also! Amazon Star in batiks, lovely Dresden Star, pretty quilting Autumn Leaves in My Path, pretty Drunkard's Path variation Closeup Autumn Leaves Miniature feathered star, only about 18 in. square Another minature, Diamonds of Gold, about 24 in. Titled Firestorm Civil War Sampler My Stained Glass Garden This was a round robin project! Pretty in batiks Rainbow Celtic Cross Midnight Floral Fantasy Challenge quilt, using two fabrics and adding at least one large word, this is "FINISH ME" Ending with a laugh, another challenge quilt, "BIG FAT BLOCK." The back-end part of the figure had a circle of one challenge fabric puffed up with stuffing! |

I WAS THERE, TOO! My hubby and I got there around 11:30. It was a GREAT venue! So much room. We both decided it would be super if they did that in Paducah. LOL
I loved all the quilts, and there were a few quilt shops that I visit often, so i got to say hello to them. They always see my hubby first. Camo hat, camo shirt, and tan shorts. He always treats the voting on your favorite quilts like a test. The big stinker only told me a couple he voted for. lol I think this will be a yearly show for us. AND I didn't even buy anything! I was so proud of myself since we will be going to Des Moines this week. |
Those were so nice - I love the idea of the Finish Me wall hanging!
|
thanks for the show. love the quilting related themes!!!!
|
Great quilts - thanks for posting.

I got there just at noon. I think I saw your hubby! Sorry, I didn't notice who was with him! I only bought one yard of fabric as I'm going on the shop hop on Oct. 8 (Springfield/Bloomington/Peoria area). I don't need much right now, so if I want to spend in two weeks I need to pace myself.
I hope it was me with him, LOL. I'm thinking about doing some of the hop, too. I work with the husband who owns Clothesline in Avon. Really nice people, but aren't most of them in this area? :) |
that looked like fun, wish I could have gone. Loved the batik quilts.
|
Great show. I wonder how many quilters were in the Round Robin???
Thanks for sharing, Kutnso |

Yes, I think we live in a fairly friendly area, majority of people exhibit Midwestern courtesy and general politeness. And they certainly rally to help others when needed. |
The people in Peoria sure do know who to produce outstanding quilts! These are beyond gorgeous! KUDOS TO ALL!
|
