This is a really easy design and neat for using two inch scrap squares.

Dianemarie 08-11-2011 07:05 PM

Where do you get your scap patterns. I just love them.

erstan947 08-11-2011 07:10 PM

This one I want!:):):) I can't decide which quilt I like best:)

mequilter 08-11-2011 07:11 PM

Beautiful!! I've got lots of scraps that I could use for one just like that.

I just make them up usually depending on what size scraps I want to work with. I keep lots of different sizes of strips and squares, which I cut when I finish each quilt top.

Maybe I should explain that a bit more...since I wanted to use two inch squares, I knew that two together would be 3.5 inches, so I started with a white 3.5 inch square and built from there.

That's very attractive! Good for you. BTW, I handle scraps similiarly.

SEW 08-11-2011 07:18 PM

I love it!

Thanks! For several years, I didn't keep up with the scraps and still have bunches of those. I really, really like doing them this way. If something is less than about four inches, I don't put it back into stash, but cut it into strips. I would never make so many scrappy quilts if I had to get out five or six hundred pieces of fabric to cut off a bit!

Mariposa 08-11-2011 07:23 PM

Another great one!

RkayD 08-11-2011 07:29 PM

All your quilts are lovely!

Granny Quilter 08-11-2011 07:30 PM

beautiful! You have so many done. You must be fast at this. The one I entered at the fair took several hundred hours by the time I hand quilted it. I'm slow

Essiescott 08-11-2011 07:30 PM

This is such a neat quilt. Love it.

Well, I don't think I'm fast, I just spend a lot of time in my sewing room. Also, since I don't quilt anything, that's a big difference!

cathylynn 08-11-2011 07:37 PM

really like this one. good job.

Sure is. The hand quilting took at least 75% of the time

cheryl rearick 08-11-2011 11:26 PM

Hello Linda, I have a question, If this is your design, are you saying we can use it for our selves ???? I have to agree with others it is beautiful and cheerful.. nice job. :)

So many ways to go in the quilting world and only so many hours in a day. I really like the piecing best of all, so I decided to just do that :) However, I do like to share the ideas here on the Quilter's Board and also on my website, where I have a "Today's Work" page that I post what I'm working on each day. Thanks!

I never mind if someone uses something I've done - I'm flattered :) It's a difficult thing for me to do something like this...a 3.5 inche square, surrounded by two inch squares and sashed with two inch squares, set on point, and say it's just my design. I cannot believe that some other quilter has never put a 3.5 inch square together with 2 inch squares before. It's what I did one day in my sewing room, by working out what squares would fit together, but surely someone else has done that as well....see what I mean??

Oh, I just answered this one from someone else. I have a hard time explaining this. If I saw a quilt made with a white 3.5 square surrounded by two inch squares, then a white strip and sashed in two inch squares, set on point, I would probably think that someone else had thought of the same quilt as I did. On such a simple quilt as this, I don't quite see how I can call it a "design" and I'm happy if it gives someone else an idea for using their scraps.

Very nice!

SewExtremeSeams 08-12-2011 02:48 AM

Ohhh, I have 1000s of 1.5" squares from the postage stamp swaps I have been in. Those would work for this design. Cool!

Kristin in ME 08-12-2011 02:57 AM

Really like this one. Love scrappies.

Yes, they would look so cool! I love the little piecing. This would be so much easier than the postage stamp quilts! I've thought that this would be cool with black instead of white....always something else to try - isn't it great :)
