quilt top finished that is/was "outside my comfort zone"
1 Attachment(s)
I just put the borders on a quilt that is/was "outside my comfort zone." Not because it was difficult but because of all the colors in it. The pattern is Basket from a book called Scrap Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett.
I want to thank all of you who helped me figure out a way that it would look good to me. Scrappy just seems to be really hard for my brain to accept. But the final quilt is beautiful and I love it. It will be awhile before I try another scrappy though.... :) I will go back to something more comfortable, like a Bargello. Here is how it looks now. Dina |
I happen to love that!! looks simple enough to make. nine patch mostly. cute!

Try to think of a fresh box of crayons - they all look wonderful and can't wait to be used. Your lovely quilt strikes me the same way! I love the way the outer border color pulls out the purples in the blocks. It looks great!

It's beautiful. By the pattern name, it was not at all what I expected to see. Love the pattern by the way. May have to add this to my ever growing list of must due.
It's terrific!! You did a beautiful job. I saw an earlier picture when it was in progress. The border you chose is perfect. So glad you showed us.
Pretty quilt and the purple border adds just the right finish!
Looks great! Glad you went with the white, and I like the added borders! Glad you tried this pattern, I will make it again too.
Just perfect. Love the colors.

Dina I had to laugh when you said you would go with something more comfortable, like a bargello. It so happens, I know and understand that bargellos are fun and not too hard to do. Do you realize how many quilters have an intense fear of creating a bargello? So, I laughed and laughed when I read your comment. |
It turned out great!! Beautiful job!
Thanks for the nice comments, everyone.

Oh, the end result is SO pretty! I like "the new box of Crayons" analogy--that's just what it looks like. Glad you ended up loving it, after having a hard time pushing thru it, and almost setting it aside.
looking good

Gorgeous! I just love it. The colors are wonderful - the white makes it all so crisp and clean and the purple border pulls it all together. Great job. You should step out of your comfort zone more often because from the looks of this, you were not uncomfortable at all.
It's beautiful! I have a little trouble with the scrappy thing too-making them that is. The ones other people make are always pretty, but I feel like they don't match when I'm making them.

Thanks for updating the progress on this beautiful quilt. The borders really define the piecing. Perfect!
It came out awesome - don't give up on scrappy. Some of the quilts I love best are scrappy and that book has some really cute patterns in it
Love the colors in this. Looks super.
This is beautiful. You have the patience of a saint. Very bright and cheery.
I really like that - it is so bright & cheery

Your quilt came out gorgeous!
My daughter would agree with you about the too many colors to feel comfortable. I made one similar only with more colors and more entwined called Island Chain. She took one look at it and said "ooh, that looks like a rainbow threw up on it"! I don't care, it's happy and bright. Lol |
Great colors! Love this quilt.
I absolutely LOVE this quilt - everything about it!!! It is my newest favorite quilt.
It looks great! I know how it is to go out of the comfort zone. But you have to try every once in a while. Great Job!
