Quilt top from Jane Adams Color Rows Class - What should I call it?

This is my completed top from my Color Rows class with Jane Adams of Gaudy Lady Quilting. There were about a dozen of us, and we had a blast! For those not familiar with her classes, you walk in there with just your machine and tools to fine dozens (probably around 50 to 60 choices) of 7" strips of bright, multicolor large scale prints. She teaches you how to put colors together fearlessly and transition between colors. You start with a center strip you just like, and pick a color that is in it for the next row, and another color in the print for the other side and go out from there. For people like me who are usually simple tone on tone colors and white/black fabric, this was quite a ways out of my comfort zone! This is what I came out with. I'm at a loss as to what to call it, so if anyone has suggestions i'd welcome them!

That is sew cool, and I can see that it would be a challenge to me, also. I usually don't go too bold, but sure could have fun with this one. I may have to give it a try. And I like the first name, Out of the tone zone. Whatever, it is awesome.

CharlotteO 07-20-2013 05:35 PM

How about "Graduated", because that is what the color hS DONE and certainly what you have done - into a new way of looking at colors for your future quilts. This one is wonderful; I hope you make many more using ideas like this!

I like it, just my style and colors. If she were giving a class in my area I would take it in a short heartbeat.

For those of you who said you'd like to try one, she does sell kits with the pattern in it on her website at gaudyladyquilting dot com. She's got some other gorgeous quilts, too - she's going to make me a kit for her bold star quilt in custom colors. For those of you with guilds, she did a beautiful lecture and then the workshop on Saturday. We had her two years ago for the same lecture and workshop, everybody wanted to take the class again, so we asked her to come back for a repeat!
