Thought I might as well start a thread here so we can show any blocks or tops we make to send to the Foster Kid project montanaquilter mentioned on the "Swap" thread here so all can see.

Here is one I made using Take 5 method sent to me by a board member.

Rein, it is beautiful. Looks like a great pattern to use up some of my flannel for my contribution. Is the largest square block 4" or 6"?
Great job - thanks for the picture. :)

Bevanger 04-06-2009 06:18 AM

fantastic quilt

reneebobby 04-06-2009 06:58 AM

Oh that is going to be one lucky child.

rein 04-06-2009 07:13 AM

Sally asked about the time it took - I would say that overall, it took about 5 to 6 hours including cutting (thanks Sally for the pattern idea). Of course, the ironing of fabrics took a while.

omak - that blue was a kind of "whirlpool" looking fabric. It went from a deep navy to a light turquoise and there were circles up to about about 10 inches in diameter. It worked perfectly for a pattern such as this.

Thanks again for you praises - I am looking forward to seeing items from others here -

Lady Crafter 04-06-2009 11:40 AM

Rein,
Beautiful quilt. The pattern looks fairly simple. Would you post the pattern, please?

Thanks ..... nice choice of colors.

Looks great! Looks as tho' it might be big enough for a pre-teen. I love the way the blocks are done.

montanaquilter 04-14-2009 07:17 PM

That is so cool! I love it! All you ladies are so talented. I haven't been taught yet how to make those kinds of quilts-I wanna learn though. Maybe my local quilt shop will have a class sometime. Thanks for the donation. It'll be much appreciated.

everyone is doing such a wonderful job. the colors are amazing. we got our picture taken with some of the quilts yesterday for our local newspaper. they are running a story about what our group is doing with the quilts. i am so excited to read the story and see the pix. hopefully we can get more people involved with it or get a few more material donations. 25 down 475 to go!!! :D  :? Our local services division got their first 25 quilts yesterday and we so blessed with everyone's thoughtfulness-they almost cried! so thank to the few on this board who donated quilt tops and quilts. You women are amazing and we truly appreciate your help.

Lee

well yes, it was orginally posted in the classified section so it's okay. we are making 500 quilts for children in foster care. we've gotten 25 done so far, we've had some help with board members and it's been wonderful. we need donations of anything to help us along-quilt tops, blocks, material. this is alot of quilts to make and one that i can't afford to do alone!! thank you for your interest, if you want to know more just pm me.
