Quilt top for the Powwow
This is done using the stained glass windows in the chapel at work as the pattern. They depict the 7 sacred rights of the Lakota, along with the pipe and morning star.
I plan on adding a plain border (or two) to get to the finished size I want. I'll probably put a narrow black one and then finish it out with blue - I've got enough of both the light and dark blue fairy frost for that. I've got to talk to some of my coworkers that are Lakota - and get ideas for quilting motifs to use on the border. I had to hang it sideways - and rotated the pictures to show it the correct direction. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psv0jvjd6l.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps42q3lwxh.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psrp5ygcth.jpg |

You did an absolutely fantastic job Cathy. You should be very proud of this quilt..
Wonderful! Can to tell us how you did the "leading"? Was it pieced in or put on after the blocks are finished? Someone else on the board is doing a church window and I know she was trying to decide how to do the leading. I used that fusible bias tape when I did a small wall hanging a number of years ago.
Absolutely beautiful! thanks for the link too.
Beautiful quilt. Joyce Mori has a number of books on Native American quilting designs. You might get some ideas from those.
I second the stunning appraisal. Just gorgeous.
What a fabulous job you did recreating the windows. Thank you also for the link explaining each of them.
Beautiful piece!!
This is a piece that should be treasured by the public. I hope if you are giving it away it is to that place where the original is. Who knows a 100 years from now the window might be gone, but your quilt will still be there. Well done. Your work is outstanding.

Nice quilt.
WOW! That quilt is a simply stunning work of ageless beauty. It does make me wonder about so many things like did you copy and design the blocks from the windows? How did you decide the layout? What did you use for the leading? Are you going to hand quilt it? Where will it hang or be used? It should be appreciated by the general public as Cindy mentioned. You have made a huge contribution to the Native American culture and to the American culture in general. Thank you so very much for sharing!
