jdavis 01-28-2010 06:15 AM

That's cute! Personally, I'm tired of the sameness of the stack n whacks. This one is different!

Jingle 01-28-2010 07:53 AM

It is gorgeous and bright. You did a good job.

reginalovesfabric 01-28-2010 09:05 AM

I called my friend who owns a quilt shop and she had this fabric and is mailing it to me, something else for my TO DO list ha.....and I think I'll keep this one

Sarah CA 01-28-2010 01:22 PM

How much yardage did you order? I want to make the quilt also, but not sure how much fabric I need. Where did you order it?
Thanks, Sarah in CA

reginalovesfabric 01-28-2010 02:05 PM

Sarah, I ordered 3 yards. This lady gives me a 10% quilter discount. It was $7.95 a yard plus postage.

reginalovesfabric 01-28-2010 02:06 PM

I ordered it from Village Cloth Shoppe in DeKalb MS
If you're interested I'll give you her number.

Sarah CA 01-28-2010 02:20 PM

Yes I am most definitely interested. If you give me the number, I will call her, or I can order on her website, if she has one.
Thanks,
Sarah in CA

reginalovesfabric 01-29-2010 05:59 AM

her number is 601-743-5638 and her name is Carolyn Hobgood. She is a very nice person who's mother started this quilt shop in the 70's When you call her tell her
Regina Muli told you about her. She doesn't charge a handling fee just the cost of mailing.
She does not work on Thursday. She is there at 9:15
she has fabric, fabric fabric. Mention that you are a quilter.
Let me know.

Regina

When I took a second look at this this morning, I thought how lovely it would be in a lanai or sunroom. So pretty and in the middle of winte, it would make you feel like you were in the middle of a lush garden.

ibequilting1 01-29-2010 06:05 AM

That is beautiful, thank you for sharing.

montanaquilter 01-29-2010 06:45 AM

Catherine Marie 01-29-2010 07:00 AM

This is outstanding. Rich looking and warm. Definitely keep this pattern in mind. Thanks for letting us see your work in progress. Don't forget to show us the finished product.

reginalovesfabric 01-29-2010 07:55 AM

Sarah, forgot to tell you if you didn't know
the fabric is Michael Miller Gerbera Garden, lot # mar8mmcx3364 black.

Carolyn told me that all M Miller's fabric is going up but she will stay at $7.95 a yard

Striking!!! The black sets it off so very nicely. Good job.

hereca622 01-29-2010 09:47 AM

Your quilt top is beautiful. I might try this type of stack and whack. I seem to be procrasinating about doing the one with triangles. I know that it is sewn in straight rows, but a group of ladies were sewing theirs together at a retreat and they were not having a good time. I quilt for fun, not to be tortured. Although, the tops they made were gorgeous.

charvan 01-29-2010 12:14 PM

I quilt for fun, too. Might try this one; on second look, love the black background. I've never done one with a black background, but this looks great.

Sarah CA 01-29-2010 12:34 PM

Hi Regina,

Thanks for the info on Carolyn Hobgood. I mentioned your name and she said she just sent your fabric out. Unfortunately, she only had 1 1/2 yards left, so that is what I ordered.

If you or anyone else knows where I might get more of this fabric, let me know. Tennessee Quilts is also out.

Thanks Sarah in CA

P.S. Mrs Otis, I think you started something here. Everyone LOVES your quilt!

Sarah, I've emailed two more quilt shops, one is local the other is on the Mississippi gulf coast. If either one has it I'll let you know. The one on the coast will ship it once they get the check for I've bought from them before.

How much more do you want?

Regina

reginalovesfabric 01-29-2010 02:03 PM

Sarah, www.gotfabric.com has 12 yards at $7.99

Regina

It's raining here and is going to turn cold so I will be spending the weekend with my quilt machine "Flo"

Sarah CA 01-29-2010 02:04 PM

I think Mrs Otis said she used 3 yards for her quilt, so I would need another 1 1/2 yards.

Thanks for checking out the shops.

I think it is an amazing quilt!!! I love how bright and cheery it is :D:D:D

Sarah CA 01-29-2010 02:28 PM

Wow Regina, thanks a million. I just ordered another 2 yards. Did you see the Pamela's Poppy fabric by Michael Miller? That was cute too, if you like pink and fushia.

Thanks again, Regina. You're a doll. I'm in northern California and it's been raining nonstop for a few weeks, so I'm definitely spending my time quilting this weekend.
