A great idea to keep the cold out and it's looks pretty too. After 20 years for out sliding patio door, we bit the bullet and replaced ours this fall. I got the kind that looks just like a sliding patio door but one side is stationary and the other hinges from the center. It has made all the difference in keping the cold out.

Great idea to add some barrier to the cold weather. I did something like this with curtains for the west facing windows in a room off of the kitchen. I used muslin for the backing as the curtain/quilts are not heirloom quality. We purchased premade insulated panels to slip behind the drapery on the sliding glass door to the deck. We have been pleased with the results in winter and summer. Your quilt is lovely and adds so much color to the room. :-)
