Holy cats! That is a great quilt

mommafank 04-23-2011 08:30 AM

Really cute. I am working on a kitty quilt as well--a bit different but from the same designer I believe.

Joanie2 04-23-2011 08:32 AM

Great to see this cat quilt because I am making the same quilt using bright homespun plaids. I have strips all cut just ready to get closer to the top of the "to do" list.
Seeing yours just might move it up the list a bit faster. Thanks for sharing it and motivative me.

I believe it is an older pattern. Maybe "materialworld" could tell us where we can get the pattern.

Love your bird avatar! Linda better keep her cat quilt far away from your bird quilt!

The pattern is from October 2000, McCall's Quilting magazine. It is the featured cover quilt, and the pattern is called "Kitty Cat Charm". Purffect!

Beautiful !! :-D

wraez 04-23-2011 03:36 PM

That is great! Do you know how many different fabrics you used on the cats?

Very smart using 3 D elements, very creative.

hereca622 04-23-2011 04:24 PM

I believe Linda, my friend and customer, said she used a different for each cat. But I don't remember if she told me how many cats or how many fabrics were used.

Joanie2 04-23-2011 05:41 PM

Just checked my pattern and there are 96 cat blocks-- 12 blocks across and 8 down. I think I will make 2 or 3 or each color.

olgaflowers 04-23-2011 05:46 PM

cool cat quilt !!

Ceil 04-23-2011 06:23 PM

This is an adorable quilt!! Can anyone give the size of the blocks? I can't find the pattern anywhere but would try to figure out some dimensions if I knew the size of the block to shoot for.

Joanie2 04-23-2011 09:20 PM

The bodies are 3 1/2" X 8 1/2" and the ear section is 1 1/2" squares on either side of a 1 1/2" X 3 1/2" rectangle. Hope this helps you.

Bobbielinks 04-24-2011 07:01 AM

I am so grateful for the help of you that have the cat pattern to share information with those who want it. I really should try harder to get the name of quilt patterns that I quilt for my customers and where they were purchased so I could pass this information along when I show a picture. I probably need a sticky note on the end of my nose to help me remember.

mommafank 04-24-2011 07:14 AM

Great book by Janet Kimes with kitty patterns and one that looks a bit like yours.
