quilted feathers

1 Attachment(s)
I made this small quilt a fews years ago and finally decided to try to quilt in on my New Joy Frame with the Janome 1600p.
I've been wanting to do free motion feathers since I got the quilting machine & frame but wasn't brave enough. They are kind of rough, but that is for practice I guess.

Sewfine 03-17-2012 03:43 PM

That is pretty.

BMP 03-17-2012 03:46 PM

Looks very nice, you did a great job

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 03-17-2012 03:48 PM

I wish I had one of those machines. My attempts at free motion is laughable but it works. Good job. Practice, practice, practice I understand is the key. (Grrrr. Not my favorite activity.)

Your feathers look good to me. Mine are always lopsided.

Grandma Bonnie 03-17-2012 04:12 PM

I think you did a great job on your feathers! The quilt is beautiful and you did a good job on all the quilting!

Sunnye 03-17-2012 04:14 PM

Better than me! I'm still practicing.

dunster 03-17-2012 06:35 PM

Your feathers look great - and remember, PPP! (practice practice practice)

granmalovesyou 03-17-2012 06:44 PM

Looks like you did a wonderful job to me I'm still trying to do it

Barb_MO 03-17-2012 10:12 PM

Thank you all. I didn't know the picture got uploaded. I really had a hard time figuring out how to upload a photo and I didn't realize that the image wouldn't be downsized like the use to be. I'll read some more help items and see if I can post some more quilts I made recently.

love your medallions! For the feathers, as they say about Carnegie Hall - Practice, practice, practice. But you can do it on paper, too. I get the big scratch pads at the dollar store. There are also a few good Utube tutes that are worth checking out - Just google 'feather quilting' or something like that. Most importantly, have fun!

Barb_MO 03-17-2012 10:44 PM

Thank you, the kaleidescope pinwheels were left over from a full size quilt I had made. Oh, I have been watching those videos on quilting.

Well, I think you did a great job. I have the Janome 1600p also, but haven't tried it yet. No frame.

It's a good machine. It works with the New Joy Gold frame just fine and there is a stitch regulator for that combination.

quiltingcousin 03-18-2012 06:09 AM

I think you did a great job....and you certainly get kudo's for bravery.....can't bring myself to give this a go on anything I care about....just keep paying a long arm gal.......I'm working myself up to it slowly.

wandatn 03-18-2012 06:34 AM

That is so pretty and your quilting is awesome-I have had a quilting machine going on three years and I have been intimidated by it but I am going to try it out.
