This was a real challenge, 10 different color fabrics (All black and white) sewn together in strips - first each end of material was cut into 45 degree angle, then the top and bottom of the stips were sewn together - which formed a tube, tube cut into different width strips, each strip laid out on the jacket pattern (not in any order) to form a "V" on the front, back and sleeves, all strips sewn onto eqyptian cotton, which was the base for the jacket, then added batting and lined, to quilt just sew (top stitch) down the lines.

Breathtaking jacket! It sure was worth all the effort.

quiltjoey 03-10-2011 06:45 PM

That would look great in my closet with my red turtleneck sweater and black slacks for winter or red tank top with a white skirt for spring and fall, here in SC. I have always worn red, black, and white. But any color would go with your jacket!! Clever....

Thanks for your nice comment.....It is not really difficult... I like a challenge,

I just had to take my time, and think about what the instructions wanted me to do, also made a few notes on my pattern so next time, it will be easier. I am going to make another in pastels and white to take on vacation in the summer. notes I wrote on pattern - eg., I drew vertical lines every 1/2" on the cotton to keep my vertical lines straight, and pressed all seams to one side - which was important, pressing each strip before I sewed on the next strip, and put in a zipper rather than buttons.

If you are interested - you can obtain the pattern at:
www.FigureFlatteringQuiltwear.com OR
[email protected]
the pattern is called "Midnight Glacier - Bargello Jacket"

I will attach a pic from the first layout of materials (I laid strips of white paper where I added one strip of material to the next strip, didn't use this piece...hope this gives a little more clarity...Best of Luck
