Quilted Recliner Slipcover-thing

You know that big thing in the living/TV room? The one that gets grubby and full of snack crumbs? No, not the DH....his recliner!

Well, the one in my living room looked pretty grubby and needed a new outfit. So I quilted a couple of yards of fabric to a plain black backing then pinned and cut and sewed like making a slipcover but with binding around the edges. Came out pretty well. It tucks in at the back and sides...needs adjusting after DH and the dogs have wrestled around in it, but it goes in the wash and comes out clean!

That is so cool, Pretty too! You've got to do a Tut!! I spend a lot of time in my recliner because of medical issues. This would be perfect!!! I cover the arms and stuff with a sheet but it's not anywhere near as pretty as that cover!!

Murphy 01-04-2012 01:44 PM

I agree, would love to see a tutorial on how you did this. Beautiful and so wonderfully functional. Waiting (smile)!

Wow...thank you, guys and gals! I'd thought about making a second one for this chair, so I'll do a tutorial as I make it. Just give me a week or so!!

And thanks for your comments about the room and colors. We live in a 1909 vintage house that we've (mostly) restored...with lots of color and lots of built-ins. The china cabinet in the picture is original to the house. Someone commented on the floor covering...it's a rug I found at a charity sale years ago...actually it's a 12' square of carpet that was bound on the edges. Very colorful.

So...I'll get to working on that tute!

Anita
