A Quilter's Dressing Gown/Wrap :)
2 Attachment(s)
Here are a couple of pics of a Dressing Gown I made for a friend for Christmas.
To put a quilter's spin on it ... "ragged" edges, all 'round ... along with quilted borders from top to bottom, around the neck, on the sleeves and pocket. I used a combed cotton, so warm and cozy, yet not bulky. Amazingly, I got the plaid matched fairly well ... thanks to the Janome 6600's AccuFeed! Now to make one for myself!! HAPPY NEW YEAR'S Everyone!! :D |
I absolutely love this. Did you use a pattern & would care to share the name? Thanks
|
This is lovely and it even has a pocket which I can't seem to do without. Your friend is a lucky lady.
|
That is so nice. Looks so cuddley and warm. I wish I was wrapped in that today. You did a fantastic job.
|

Thanks everyone!! ...
I started with the free pattern at Connecting Threads, and then made my own improvisations, starting with only one layer of fabric. http://www.connectingthreads.com/pat...__D991495.html It's "sew" simple and quick to make. I'll look forward to seeing what the rest of you create. Shelbie ... me too! I "need" pockets in everything. Again, wasn't part of the pattern, but one of my add-ins! Lots of snow up there in "High"? :D Only about 3" here, with a fine show coming down again now. |
QuiltE ... it looks great. I love the ragged edges and the plaid. So manly. Yes ... you deserve one too!

I hadn't planned the ragged look, but as I was working with it, and auditioning the border sizes, it just kind of jumped at me. Originally I'd bought it for a nightgown for myself ... Little House on the Prairie style. I only wish I had more of that same fabric for my own housecoat and/or nightgown but so looks like it won't happen. Although ... if I could find some blue flannelette that coordinates with it, I do have enough of the plaid for the yoke. hhmmmm? Reason to go shopping, I guess! :D |
I love this dressing gown! I will have a look at the pattern and see if I can find something suitable to make one for myself. I only have these heavy ones which I don't like.
|
I love it!!
|
So cute, I could use one of these too!!!

Though it wouldn't be quite so cozy as the brushed cotton is or a flannelette would be. I have visions of another one done with quilt block pockets. What a way to use orphans!!! :) JeanieG ... would be perfect for all your tripping about! |
I love the fringing.
|
turned what could have been a plain robe into a work of quilting art! the litle rag edge and touch of quilting is perfect.
peace |

I don't require depth! You'll be out playing snow golf! :)

IMHO it's pretty much the same as flannelette. It's not quite so bulky, so perhaps a finer weave? It used to be a common men's winter shirt material, usually in plaid, and used as a dress shirt, rather than as a work shirt. |
Looks sooo soft & comfy.
|
