I bring hand work when we camp. Going next week and have my box ready.

sandy l 07-05-2016 03:59 AM

Well it looks like you are having a good time. What machine are you using?

ManiacQuilter2 07-05-2016 04:08 AM

You look very well organized. I only took my Bernina on vacation with me once. I then started taking hexes with me instead.

Tartan 07-05-2016 04:13 AM

What fun! Nothing like a little featherweight for portable machine.

Dina 07-05-2016 05:15 AM

Looks just right to me! I love your tee shirt.

Dina

I set up my space pretty much the same way. I am cutting out a set of pieced placemats to piece on our next trip (tomorrow!). I like to piece in the camper, but I prefer not having to do lots of cutting.

tessagin 07-05-2016 05:47 AM

If it's working for you that's all that matters. Looks like a nice cozy setup. Your machine is a ?

francie yuhas 07-05-2016 06:44 AM

The only thing missing is an adult beverage!

Stitchnripper 07-05-2016 08:54 AM

Singer Featherweight. Great little machine for piecing in the camper. Nice set up but if I was camping I think I'd want to be outside. I agree that you have to bring your entertainment, tho!

Diannia 07-05-2016 09:02 AM

Wonderful! Last trip we took I took a portable sewing table that I'd gotten at an estate sale and my spare Brother sewing machine, a small cutting/ironing mat, iron, rotary cutter etc. I left them there to have whenever we go (our 5th wheel gets to live at the coast while we swelter in Fresno). I will take a couple of bags 2 1/2" strips with me next time to work on 4-patches. I also have a small applique project I leave there.

quilterpurpledog 07-05-2016 09:33 AM

I also take my Singer featherweight in the camper to sew on. I sew sometimes when my husband fishes or goes on a photo shoot hike or one that is longer than I can manage. I do most of my cutting before I leave home because I only can manage a small mat in the camper. I also do handwork. I have a complete separate box for supplies that I just leave in the camper. It is amazing how many things I can do in the smaller space. I do have to set it all aside when it is time to eat.

When we camp, we use a tent, so I can't take my sewing machine, but I take my hand projects already to sew. My DS and DD are mega basketball fans so we go to tournaments - they watch the tournament games and I sew. The last few times a friend joined me and we turned it into our own personal retreat.

DOTTYMO 07-05-2016 10:20 AM

I take my normal sewing machine in my caravan. I sew on half of the table which is 5' in length and 2' wide. I have been known to put it up outside and sew there. I travel with 2 dogs who don't complain or ask for more space as long as they have their quilts to lie on. I do take hand sewing sometimes.

busy fingers 07-05-2016 02:54 PM

You look very well organised.

Doggramma 07-05-2016 03:13 PM

You have a nice set up there! Nice to be able to sew when you're enjoying the great outdoors!

heljoy50 07-05-2016 03:18 PM

It is a Singer Featherweight 221. Love both 221 and 222.

pocoellie 07-05-2016 03:49 PM

We're going to take a trip to AK sometime next year for about 2-3 months, so I'm making up a bunch of kits in the meanwhile, I'll be bringing my little 99.

orangeroom 07-05-2016 03:52 PM

Way to go! No matter where you go, you gotta quilt!!! Nice!

RedGarnet222 07-05-2016 04:10 PM

Oh my gosh! What a cute set up and picture.

Annz 07-05-2016 06:42 PM

This looks relaxing.

Mariposa 07-05-2016 07:28 PM

Looks like you're having fun! :)

Love what you do, and do what you love, and you will always be happy. You and you shirt look quilting happy.

starshine 07-06-2016 04:55 AM

Looks good to me.

Karen G 07-06-2016 04:57 AM

That s my style of camping!

Wanabee Quiltin 07-06-2016 05:12 AM

O My goodness ! I piece all the time at my table in the camper. We just bought a different camper because the old one wasn't very good for my quilting/piecing. The newer camper has a large counter near the table and I will be able to place my iron there and have enough cabinets for all my fabric and notions. I hope you are comfortable sewing the way you are in the picture.

northern lass 07-06-2016 05:28 AM

A girl after my own heart. I always take my machine when we go away in the van. Try and take small projects.
At one time we had a film crew following us. They couldn't believe I took sewing away with me and filmed me quilting in the van! Couldn't NOT sew wherever we go!

Clarice29 07-06-2016 07:33 AM

I used to do that too. Nice for rainy days.

gigi712 07-06-2016 11:36 AM

How sweet is that? Love that big ole smile!

Jingle 07-06-2016 12:23 PM

I don't camp and probably remember to take everything with me.
You look very organized . Whatever works for you is all that is important.

BrendaK 07-06-2016 02:58 PM

[QUOTE=tessagin;7594416]If it's working for you that's all that matters. Looks like a nice cozy setup.

Ditto. You look happy enough. BrendaK

Enjoy your portable 'studio'.

mjhaess 07-08-2016 06:38 AM

You look like you are having fun....That is what counts...

GreatStarter 07-10-2016 12:45 PM

Perfect type of camping for me too! My featherweight always goes with me if we will have electric. Enjoy yourself!

Veinurse 07-10-2016 03:24 PM

I just want to sew when I camp. No cutting and no pressing. I love my Featherweight bit I use my 301 more while camping. Just more stable. I think you have it "just right"!
