I have set a goal to make a quilt for each of my grandchilren; if my kids would quit having kids, I may be able to finish my project! Grandchild #17 arrived two weeks ago.
The yellow/lavendar/pink quilt is very loosely based of Glenna Hailey's pattern "ohmystars" which is free online. All of the flowers are dimensional, and I found all patterns on the internet by googling "fabric flowers." I used vintage buttons from my mom's button box and added squares that reflect Brenna's heritage. The "Toby" quilt is from a pattern at Quiltville called "Strip Twist Quilt." The letters are paper-pieced, pattern by Carol Doak. This quilt now lives in Saudi Arabia Brenna was born in China Toby's quilt reflects his bright personality |
Wow, 17 grandchildren would be great. We have none! The quilts are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

They are beautiful, congrats on the new one coming. Happy Quilting!!
I love quilts that are made to fit the personality of the person it is for:) Beautiful.....both of them!
WOW! Great quilts!
Wow! Great Quilts, Hopefully they'll slow down enough for you to catch up to the 17 you have :)
I thought I had plenty grandchildren with 7! The last three were born within 16 months of each other, so they had me pretty busy, too. But 17.....I don't think we'll see that many, but who knows? I'm just glad I don't have to keep up with you or your grands!
Those quilts sure are pretty. If they keep having children, you can try to keep up by not making them so pretty--use big chunks of fabric and don't worry about color. We called them utility quilts, remember? :-) |
The colors in the first one are lovely! Love the scrappy one also, the name is a great idea.
great quilts
Really cute quilts.
I am thinking about making my 7 GK quilts for when they graduate. Now my oldest is 14, then next yr will have boy & girl, next yr 1 girl, then a break but 3 more girls....
I'd better get busy now, huh?  |
My gosh, are they wonderful. I love all the extras on the first and the name on the second. Seventeen, wow, you are a blessed grandmother.
My friend is doing this for just seven. She has the problem too that there could be more. And then some are so young, they don't have a favorite color yet. |
Very pretty.
your gonna be one busy grandma!

Seven is all I'm getting. Two Great Granddaughters, don't know many I will get.
Beautiful quilts, keep on making them. |
Very nice quilts!
What a wonderful thing for grandkids to have!
It is a wonderful idea. My grandmother did the same for us, but unfortunately she passed before finishing the last two. It is something I will cherish the rest of my life so I am glad you are giving your grandkids such a wonderful gift.
Nice work. I have 10 grandchildren and they all have a quilt from Granny. I have a great grandson now. He only has a baby sized quilt.
17GKs WOW!!! Your quilts are so sweet, pretty and filled with lovely touches.
Pretty!
I have you by 1 GC. And, 18 (from 27 down to 2 1/2) is more than enough but now they are having children. 4 GGC, oldest is 4.
Thanks for sharing your lovely quilts. I just have a question, how old is the child with the lavender/ pink quilt? Buttons may be dangerous for a small child.
Delightful quilts!
Both are beautiful.
While your quilts are truly lovely, I suck in my breath when I read about embellishments (buttons, bows, fringe, etc.) that can be choking hazards! Kids can be very good at putting such things in their mouths; one can never be too careful. Of course, they can go on a wall beautifully.
great quilts and colors
Beautiful quilts! And then there will come the gr-grandkids. Keep sewing!
Pretty quilts! I wish my sons would get inspired. My daughter's two are great, but I woud love some more GK's! :-)
