I visited Greencastle, PA, my hometown for the triennial homecoming. The quilting ladies at the Lutheran church displayed quilts they've made for those in need. You'll notice that the designs are not elaborate, but there are at least 2 wonderful outcomes from their efforts. Someone who has no cover or shelter gets a quilt, and some ladies who never learned to sew are becoming beginning quilters, taught by those who are more experienced.

What a wonderful assortment of quilts! I didn't know that Lutherans were such avid quilters. I thought we just... sung loudly.

(Yes, I'm a Lutheran too.)

MomtoBostonTerriers 08-09-2010 04:21 AM

Thanks for sharing this picture of those wonderful quilts. Sounds like a lot of people will be blessed from this project: the quilters who made the quilts, the beginners who learned a new skill, the experienced quilters who passed on their love of the art, and the recipients who are reminded they are loved even in the middle of disaster.

MamaBear61 08-09-2010 05:12 AM

Beautiful display of their handiwork.

GrammaNan 08-09-2010 05:16 AM

What an amazing project. The quilts were made with love and may be received by someone who has nothing else to their name. May God bless each person that helped in your project and those who need the quilts.

DJ 08-09-2010 05:41 AM

Thanks for sharing this! Our (Lutheran) church has a quilt group that makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief. We have a similar display in our sanctuary when the quilts are dedicated during the service before we ship them off. My goal is to make 12 tops a year for this project. Fabrics and battings are donated.

LeslieSkelly 08-09-2010 04:54 PM

Oh my! That is an awesome display of quilts!

Farmer Girl 08-09-2010 05:45 PM

Those pews are just beautifully robed. What a great group.

treeseek quilter 08-09-2010 06:00 PM

They may be simple but they are so pretty and they also are made from the heart, too

Lori L 08-10-2010 03:30 AM

This is my idea of what love/church/christianity is all about! What a wonderful showing of how deep your faith runs and your desire to help others. Absolutely beautiful
