Rag quilt with cotton shirts and flannel

I just had to try this. Flannel has gotten so expensive so I put the shirts on the front with frayed edge appliqued patches and flannel on the back. I did use the Accuquilt rag die to cut both layers at the same time. I wasn't sure how it would rag up but I think it turned out fine. I made it for my daughter and son-in-law's new camper. I also made some pillowcases out of the left over flannel. They loved it. It was a nice surprise for them.

I made a flannel rag with cut up shirts I bought at thrift stores. It came out neat.

Awesome! I like the layering of different prints/plaids. Did you also use batting for the lining?

The flannel and the first square are 8 1/2, the next one is 4 1/2 and the little one is 2 inches. The batting was cut 6 1/2 inches. It was really fun to put together.

Excellent quilt. I made denim rag quilts for each of my nieces and nephews, but yours is by far much nicer. Job well done.

WOW! This is my favorite quilt today. Good way to use the fabrics. Thanks for sharing.

EmiliasNana 04-29-2014 06:11 AM

I am not usually a fan of rag quilts, but I love yours. Looks like it is just begging for a cuddle!

JoAnn Fabrics has flannel for $2.99/yd during their Daffodil Daze. Not sure when the sale ends but I just purchased backing for a charity quilt and lining for my family Christmas stockings.
