Rag Quilt

2 Attachment(s)
This is a rag quilt a made for my DD. She wanted a nice big snuggly flannel quilt so I thought I would give a rag quilt a try.
Took me heaps longer than I thought, but was a great way of using up all those scraps of batting I had hung on to ;)
DD designed the pattern, she wanted all the blue/green hearts together on the raggy side, the back was all just random lighter colours.
It ended up around 62" x 74"

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, it is winter down here and it is getting a lot of use, both on her bed and on the lounge, she wanted to take in on her recent scout camp but decided it was just too big and heavy LOL

It really is. I made so many rag quilts when I first began quilting, think it's time to make a few more and maybe copy your very nice design. May in Jersey

It's just lovely -- and grouping the colors together that way on the front really added to the quilt!

That's a very pretty rag quilt. I usually make my batting squares 8" and flannel squares 10". So this is a refreshing change seeing so many squares of color in what is relatively the same size that I usually make. What usually takes the longest is the snipping. If you have a pair of rag quilt snips it goes by quicker and less painfully! If not, and you plan on ever making another, get at least one pair. The secret is to pay attention to where you're snipping, and if you ever snip through the seam, fix it immediately.

I'm sure your dd will love it! It will surely keep her warm for many years. We have a few in the family room and cuddle up with them as needed. Keep in mind that they usually shed for a while and empty the dryer lint trap often (every 5 minutes) when drying the first bunch of times.

What size are your blocks? Batting 5 1/2" and material 7 1/2"? If you have the time, please pm me with that information. Thanks.
