Rainbow Quilt Finish

I have a new finish today. This was supposed to be going to a friend to use for a fundraiser for his work, but I just found out he is no longer working there, so this will be staying with me a little longer. Regardless, I love this quilt and am very happy to see it finished.

The quilt is very pretty but the Shoe is awesome! Is that your studio?

joyce888 04-19-2012 04:43 PM

Very pretty quilt, looks great hanging on the shoe!

athenagwis 04-19-2012 05:14 PM

I wish it was my studio, that would be awesome!! It's a local park that used to be an amusement park 30+ years ago. The shoe is a piece one of the old attractions, the old woman that lived in the shoe. I thought it would make a fun picture!! :)

Cheers!
Rachel

Love it :) Great job

Yes the fabrics themselves were already gradated, so it was as simple as sewing the strips together!! I love a very easy quilt with high visual impact!! :)

Cheers!

Hi Athenagwis,
I can't believe I'm seeing that picture of the old woman in the shoe here on this board. You see, my son has plans to rebuild the two foot bridges that lead to that attraction. He is 17 years old and is doing this for a scout project. We have just hosted a spaghetti dinner last weekend and we were amazed by the town's support. So we know all about the shoe. We've been making trips there since last fall to take measurements of the current bridges, assess the pavement and the stream bed. We've made presentations to the town selectmen and the Bensons Park committee. He and my husband were there last night. In a few short weeks, the rotted old bridges will be gone, replaced by new bridges. And you will know that it was my son and his great supporters in the Boy Scouts who did it.

And, after all that rambling, your quilt is just lovely!
