Rainbow scrappy

2 Attachment(s)
I started making scrappy blocks this spring (posted here http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t244263.html) and made some more this summer, until I finally got tired of making them! I put them together and this is the result. The black triangles and borders are black with different gold metallic designs from my stash. I did buy the binding--black with colored polka dots. I know the whole quilt is a little goofy but I like seeing fabrics from my different projects. :)

The bird fabric backing is something I picked up at a thrift store but it wasn't big enough, so I continued with bright, bold colors to get a big enough backing. The piece at the top is a hanging sleeve, although I don't know if I'll ever hang it.

I'm thinking of calling it 'Rainbow Medley.'

I love your quilt and it is far from goofy! I really like your color placement. The backing is perfect and so, so colorful as well. Great job all the way 'round.

That's really nice! The colors are so nicely placed, and putting the blocks on point gives it an extra oomph!
And I like the way you used the stripes!

Love,
love, love it which block pattern did you use looks a bit like a variation of Log cabin.

Marcia_PA 07-18-2014 12:33 PM

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, I still have lots of scraps, even though I've been quilting for only 7 years. This was a project that I did when I didn't have a particular quilt that I wanted to do (or felt like doing).

It is a half log cabin block--I started with a 2 1/2 inch fabric square, then added strips to two adjoining sides of that square instead of all four sides. I trimmed the blocks to 6 1/2 inches. I got the idea for the blocks here http://eileen-themissingpiece.blogsp...s-therapy.html

Oh ..... this one fabulous scrappy!

quiltmouse 07-18-2014 02:27 PM

It's so vibrant! I love your colors. Beautiful job! Nice placement of colors and blocks.

The various fabrics from prior projects are rather like old friends aren't they? (LOL-almost typed "fiends"-Snerk!)

luce321 07-18-2014 02:30 PM

What a great way to remember other quilts that you've made and inspire you in your future efforts. This scrap quilt is simply beautiful. I love each block and the way that you put the finished quilt together. Thanks for posting the pictures.
