Have been working on these random scrappy blocks for a while now, they are made up of off cuts and pieces of re-cycled shirting. Just wondering what you think of placing solid blocks in between or should I keep to all scrappy? Have been having fun with these, not sure about the quilting, might end up tying it. Any ideas would be welcome.

I like it scrappy much better. Very cool blocks!!!!!!!! :D:D
I like the addition of the solid blocks. Probably because I'm not a fan of "real scrappy".
I like both versions but I think I like all scrappy best:)
I like the solid colors. Keep them.

What if you add a same color lattice strip in between each scrappy block or even a lattice with a blank block and a scrappy. I think the same color lattice would bring it all together.
I like the solid blocks.....what about making them half square triangles? Might be a compromise between all scrappy and blocks.
I like the scrappy only look.
all scrappy gets my vote
I like the scrappy!
Mark my vote with the "all scrappy" voters.

i like both ways glad i dont have to make the decisions

There's just something about scrap quilts :) I like it scrappy but think it would look nice as quilter53 said with lattace.

All scrappy gets my vote. :D

It's a tricky one...I am doing a random scrappy at the moment. When I was playing about with some of the finished blocks I decided I would sash them in a solid colour. Didn't think of distributing a solid block amongst the randoms. I think the solids make it look interesting, but then the chaos of the randoms against each other is cool too. All in all not much help am I....but I love your blocks so keep us posted.

very nice I look forward to seeing your quilt when it is finished
keep up the good work Dale |
Wow, what a great response, I am now looking at my quilt blocks in a new light, I knew I could rely on some good advise from you all here, may I ask what is 'lattice', is it not the same as sashing then?
I am inspired to make more, just as I was thinking I would use the solids between, now I am thinking I shall try them on point and do away with the solids all together, I shall keep shuffling them about over the next few days while I make more until I am satisfied. If I was to tie it would I do that in the corners of the joins, I am thinking with black thread at this stage. Many thanks Gal |
I would go with all scrappy and then use a thick (maybe 2-3" sashing in between the blocks which are all the same color that sorta coordinates.
I think the solids kind of take away the punch of very nice scrappy blocks you've made. |

Scrappy is so much fun! This one is going to be great!
Scrappy. I like it. I think tying would be good too. Make it real puffy. It looks like a puffy to me.
Oh, go all scrappy and NO blocks.
All scrappy,scrappy,scrappy.
I like scrappy best!

I Like the Scrappy
have you thought of sashing in between the scrappy blocks about a 2 inch or so.. instead of the solid blocks.. might make the scrappy blocks pop out better... just a suggestion .
All scrappy, with or without sashing.
It will turn out gorgeous any way you decide to complete it. Love the colours in your blocks!
Solids
I like it without the solid blocks. The mood is scrappy, so I wouldn't disturb that.
I like all scrappy, but either way will be beautiful.
Awesome, love it!
