This took almost a year in the making for my mother-in-law. I ran out of the dark plum and only needed 8-2 1/2 squares and finally found it on the shopping I did with Karla up in Woodland Park at the LQS Nuts and Bolts.

I had the panels for a long time and this whole pattern was my own. I have already requested the EQ6 for my birthday this year which by the way is on Thanksgiving and it will be my 50th.

Thanks, I hope I get it because this pattern was my own and it was hard enough along with running out of material.

I never realized when I was making it the way the pattern of the teal blocks would turn out to look like X's or the Irish chain.

That is beautiful. I bet she loves it. Great job. And happy 50th a little early.

She saw part of it the last time they were here and she saw the backing then. Now I just have to get it quilted.

I still need to finish her miniature dollhouse, it is going to be a flower shop and it will have real working lights.

Quiltgranny 03-08-2010 09:15 PM

Congratulations, Kim!!! Excellent! I just love how you finished your quilt. WOW! :-D Those colors are all so awesome put together like that. May I show Marybeth from Nuts how your quilt turned out? You are a quilting machine! What a great idea on your border, too - love how that turned out.

Thanks, I am happy with it also. You may show Marybeth, I would bring it up myself but I am trying to conserve money for our vacation.
I am goind to be very busy soon, my Boxer Ruby Lu is due to have her pups the 3-5th of April. Will have my hands full for the next couple of months after that. I will know how many in a couple of weeks after her x-rays.

Thanks, Kim. I emailed this link to Marybeth. I know she'll be excited to see your progress.

Good luck with your doggies and the puppies that are coming. Keep me posted.

You could come down for the day and get your fill of puppy breath, there is nothing else like it in the world. I just love puppy breath, it kinda makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Now this brings back memories, for sure. Growing up, my folks bred our Doberman off and on. Not long after they were born, it was sheer puppy pandemonium! They were SO cute, too. So innocent, so soft and squeaky as they nuzzled against Mom for eats. Guess I don't specifically remember their little puppy breath, but that was a hundred years ago or so!! Thanks for the invite, we'll see.

That is enchanting! That's a really great design. Love the colors, too!

Boxer mom 03-08-2010 11:21 PM

I guess it is not too bad for a newbie and being my own pattern.
Thanks for the praise.

Wow! Those colors are perfect together and the placement moves your eye all around the quilt. You chose very well. I do hope you get your EQ6. Just think of the awesome quilts you can design then.

Thanks mom, I seam to have a nack for this quilting thing. I took 3 year of Home EC. in high school so the sewing machine is no stranger to me. Did you see my new avitar of the boxer kids. Ruby Lu is in the back and Tucker in the front.

CasaManana 03-09-2010 08:30 PM

I'll say you're got the quilting thing down!! You're going to keep me on my toes. That's good. It will refresh my memory on some things.

I did see the new avatar. Is Ruby Lu the pregnant one? she is actually looking kind of skinny. or maybe not a recent photo?

Vicky :D

QuiltingB 03-09-2010 09:00 PM

I love the quilt, colors, fabrics, just my style. Thanx for sharing.

Yes, Ruby Lu in the back is pregnant, she is only 38 days into it. She is showing a tiny bit and can see it better when she stands, her tets are bigger and her milk is starting to come in. I will know the end of next week how many.

Jim's Gem 03-10-2010 12:54 PM

Boxer mom 03-10-2010 07:34 PM
