Recent Blue/Cream Creation

Hi,
My name is Diannia (Diana) and I'm a scrapaholic! Last year I pulled out a UFO box of Blue and Cream fabrics I'd collected w/a pattern and sewed my heart out making the blocks. I put it on my design wall and did NOT like it to the point I offered it to my quilting friends! They were kind enough to suggest I put it away for a while and pull it out again later. My "later" was last month. I started putting the blocks up on the design wall in different patterns and ended up with this: Who knew I had an Irish Chain hiding in those blocks!!! I've since added borders to this, of dark blue (inner) and lighter blue w/stars (outer) and it's waiting patiently for me to quilt it. I will be gifting this to a nephew when he gets his life together enough to appreciate it...hopefully by Christmas! |
beautiful blues, beautiful quilt.

Great story and quilt!
Nice blues. nice quilt
Looks like sparkling jewels in waiting.
That's beautiful. It makes me want to pull out my blue fabrics and make something scrappy, but then I remember I have some blue scrappy blocks in a pile somewhere already...hope I get motivated like you did to give them another shot!

Good for you. Lovely quilt.
lovely work. What fun to find a new pattern hidden in your project
Very pretty blues and creams quilt. The design is beautiful and your bordering ideas great. Your story is very encouraging to others. Be sure to show us the finished quilt.
I really love it!
It's terrific! I'm glad you didn't give up on it!
It turned out beautiful.
You made a beautiful quilt. Glad you put it away for a while instead of giving up on it. Sometimes we have to walk away for a while then come back with a clear start.
I love your quilt, aren't you glad your friends didn't take the top ? Your quilt turned out great.
Awesome quilt...great new arrangement. Sometimes we need to look at things with fresh eyes. Congrats on getting it out of your UFO pile.
Nephews do not often appreciate the hours invested, but I pray yours does. Maybe getting his life together would be aided by your loving gift--plus a pep talk. :o

What nice quilty friends you have. Clearly they've been there before. ;)
It's a nice quilt and will keep your nephew warm for a while to come. |
Looks beautiful so glad you kept trying. Get it quilted and let us see again
Like Irish chain and your on point block. Would love to see the final quilt.
That is just lovely. Even though it is scraps it doesn't look it.
Aren't you glad you didn't give up on such a lovely quilt?!
Love it! I've been thinking about doing something similar but I don't have enough scraps in the same color family. (Yet).
I love blues but don't have any scraps of it. Maybe because I used them all? LOL Love your quilt. A lot of quilts look much better after we put them up for awhile. Glad your friends talked you into keeping it.
Some quilts, like fine wines and good cheeses, need to age a bit! Glad that was the case with yours. The new layout you used is commonly known as "Buckeye Beauty", not an Irish chain.

Thank you for that information! |
It turned out beautiful. I love the layout & all the blues.
Very pretty quilt, I'm glad you came back to it.
Very pretty in blues. Time gives a different perspective. Glad you didn't give up on it.
Isn't it amazing what can happen when you put away a quilt for a while that you are not having fun working on, then coming up with a better idea for the quilt. I love your quilt.
I love Irish chains and yours is an interesting and fun variation that really works well.
Beautiful. I am trying to pull blues blacks and creams together for a quilt for my brother. Liking D9P or the turning twenty.
