My DH's Step Aunt asked me to hand quilt this top for her. the colors are really not some I would have chosen so I am finding it difficult to want to work on it since I don't really like it. But, I need to get it done for her as soon as possible. She says this is plenty of quilting on it. But, what do you think? Do I need to back my ears and do more? I don't want it to bunch up the first time its washed.

Beautiful!

pastimesquiltdesign 10-25-2011 06:35 PM

I think you've done plenty. Looks great to me.

Cyn 10-25-2011 06:36 PM

Looks good to me but I think you need to know the batting and how far apart it recommends

BETTY62 10-25-2011 06:37 PM

You have done a great job of quilting. I agree, the colors are a little dull but the pattern is nice.

erstan947 10-25-2011 06:37 PM

I think I would call it good. The batting package should tell you how close you need to quilt. Beautiful quilting:)

valleyquiltermo 10-25-2011 06:38 PM

No that is plenty of quilting, it will not bunch up and will be nice and soft. I love it, it looks like the 30's quilts. You have done a Great job quilting it.

Do you know what the batting requirements are? Some are just a couple of inches, some allow for more space... Without really knowing how far apart you've quilted, it looks fine to me, but I would check on what the batting requires... Nice of you to do this favor for her, though, in spite of your lack of "inspiration". :)

You've done a beautiful job, sometimes less is more! It looks done to me, thanks for sharing.

craftybear 10-25-2011 06:40 PM

Chicca 10-25-2011 06:41 PM

I love the quilting you have done and personally feel it is perfect. Thank you for sharing.

dkabasketlady 10-25-2011 06:43 PM

The quilting looks fabulous!! As long as you've done the quilting according to the pkg. directions then I'd call it quits!!

amandasgramma 10-25-2011 06:44 PM

I think you can call it good, too!!! Looks great!

weezie 10-25-2011 06:44 PM

I think it's enough quilting and it looks very good.

#1piecemaker 10-25-2011 06:45 PM

I buy my batting by the roll instead of the bag. So, there are no instructions or information on the package. I think it is 6.6 oz. But, I have no idea what that means or how close the stitching should be. I don't think there is any place that is over 2&1/2 to 3 inches between stitching.

QuiltnNan 10-25-2011 06:49 PM

i think it has enough quilting

blueangel 10-25-2011 06:52 PM

lovely job - it's just enough quilting. Any more would be 'too much'

GwynR 10-25-2011 07:27 PM

Looks great! Should be plenty!

SherryW 10-25-2011 07:29 PM

Good Job! Looks nice.

Lori S 10-25-2011 07:37 PM

I Reckon ,you have a perfect amount!

cathyvv 10-25-2011 07:44 PM

It is perfect. If you add more quilting, it might be too much!

scraphq 10-25-2011 07:50 PM

From another hand quilter: Your quilt looks perfect to me. I'm not a fan of heavy quilting although I love to admire the artistry of the machine quilters.

sisLH 10-25-2011 07:54 PM

Looks good to me -but what do I know? That would look real pretty in a bedroom the pink color and a valance to match the quilt.

sewnsewer2 10-25-2011 07:54 PM

Oh yeah.... you did a beautiful job!!

hensandhollyhocks 10-25-2011 08:04 PM

I think the quilting is nice!

cindy4857 10-25-2011 09:00 PM

looks beautifully done from here and looks like it's plenty of quilting.

jackied 10-25-2011 09:17 PM

Looks like plenty to me and a really good job! My Mother-in-law always just quilted along the seams and never had problems no matter what batting she used.

SueDor 10-26-2011 01:51 AM

Its great!

AllAboutScraps 10-26-2011 01:55 AM

I think it is lovely. New to quilting so didn't know there is a minimum amount of quilting required by the batting. I also get my batting off a large roll. Nice of you to hand quilt this when you don't like it.

I agree!! you have done a great job and helps the pattern of the piecing stand out!!! I too think less is more. I think there is alot of quilting done and you have done a great job - I would think its close enough for any batting requirements. She should really love it!!! :-D

thenonnielady 10-26-2011 02:53 AM

I think it is enough...nice job

homecaregiver 10-26-2011 03:15 AM

Quilting looks great to me and you have done a fantastic job.

Pat

thseabreze 10-26-2011 03:33 AM

the quilting is perfect...I think too much quilting, smashes the fabric too much and it doesn't look like a quilt any longer..takes away any puffiness..;}

Homespun 10-26-2011 03:49 AM

Looks more than good enough for me!!!

GMaJanet 10-26-2011 03:51 AM

way plenty quilting....why do you think i would bunch up??

catladyquilts 10-26-2011 04:19 AM

that is perfect for the design
