I recently completed this quilt for my best friend Annie, who taught me to quilt 18 months ago. This is for her birthday, and to thank her. It was in a magazine in Feed Sack fabrics, but I immediately saw it in red & white, her favorites, and knew I had to make it. Then I machine quilted red roses in the white areas. Hope you all like it!

This is beautiful! I love the red/white combo.
I love the look of the pieced logs on the blocks! Please tell me you strip pieced and didn't just do individual tiny little blocks! It's gorgeous and the quilting really makes it wow! I like the name, too. rf |

Very pretty! I usually don't like red, but you made it look just beautiful!!!

Ditto - I'm not a red/white fan but that is beautiful. How thoughtful of you - and you just started quilting 18 mo. ago. WOW!!! Keep up the good work & show us more, more, more!!!

What a beautiful quilt! What a wonderful collection of reds you have. I've been collecting reds to use on a redwork quilt. I see we have similar tastes! Someday I hope to have a red and white quilt also. Thanx for sharing! Your best friend is going to be blown away to see what she's started.

So Beautiful :D She is going to be so proud of you :D What a wonderful way to say thank you and happy birthday! Good Job on the colors, piecing and quilting :D :D :D
|
Thank you ladies for all your really kind compliments!!! Yes, I did strip piece this, and it is actually a VERY easy pattern. It goes together really easy, as long as you are very careful about your 1/4" seams -- lots and LOTS of corners to go wrong!! If I can locate the magazine the pattern is in I will post it here. Thanks again!!!

Hi! I happen to be jljack's friend, Annie. I must say that I love my quilt and that she did a wonderful job! WOW! What a thank you gift!!! It was totally unexpected. If you think that it's beautiful in the photo, you should see it in person. I thank the Lord for such a wonderful and caring friend, she's a doll!

Yes, Welcome, azam!
I'll bet it's nice to see your student do so well! Please share your work with us too! |
What a wonderful accomplishment. It reminds me so much of redwork embroidery---I love the way all the red fabrics work together. You should be proud of yourself!
|
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Unfortunately, I've failed to take photos of my work. I'll have to borrow them from the people that I've given them to. But, in the future I'll be sure to snap a photo. Currently I have several works in progress, one of which is for one of my grandson's. He picked out the fabric (motorcycles and race cars) so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully, I'll finish it before Christmas, along with a couple of others that I have started. Wish me luck! |
Azam and I attend the same church, and with our husbands, we camp, dine and watch movies together. She's a great friend, and obviously a great teacher of quilting. She is currently teaching another friend of ours to quilt, and it is going very well!! Thank you, Annie, and the Lord bless you for passing on this wonderful craft to me and others. :-o :-P
|
I found the pattern. It is in the March/April 2007 Quiltmaker magazine. She didn't give instructions on how to strip piece, but it's not hard to figure it out. One warning - be really careful when trimming to 12" blocks - I did a couple wrong, and I had to resew on one whole part to fix it.

It's absolutely beautiful the reds and white together a wonderful combination!
