Toby was a special guy. Since it's been a year since he left us, I wanted to make a memory quilt. He was my daughter's dog, but he really loved his grandma too.

That is beautiful, a lovely remembrance. Very interesting the way you did the frames.

jjs56 05-27-2016 05:26 PM

Aww, so cute! They really do touch our hearts forever, don't they?

Halo 05-27-2016 05:40 PM

What a wonderful memory. It is sure to be treasured forever. Love everything about it.

QuiltnNan 05-27-2016 06:20 PM

Such a great memory quilt! :)

QuiltnLady1 05-27-2016 06:54 PM

What a cool quilt. I should make one for DH -- he took many, many picts of our Pepper (my avatar) who left us several years ago. Unfortunately, I still can't even look at her pictures without crying......

lovely quilt

Ditto -- very nice job. I should go back and find pictures of a few of our furry friends (cats) that we had to have put down, 3 of them within 3 months, all different circumstances. Very nice quilt.

Very nice job. BrendaK

Toby looks like a sweet boy. He looks a lot like my Daisy. What a nice remembrance.

Very nicely done. I made this one for my Westie name Macbeth.

Doggramma 05-28-2016 06:23 AM

Thank you everyone. It was actually quite cathartic to work on the quilt and talk to Toby. MANIACQUILTER2--what a nice remembrance too

A wonderful tribute to a member your family. Your quilt is a gift of love and memories.

What a fantastic way to show all the memories, it lovely.

btiny36 05-28-2016 03:36 PM

OMG It's beautiful and touching...I have tears in my eyes as we just lost our beloved Paige in April and I was thinking of doing this very thing....just not yet as it hurts to much....I made a slide show of her.....

btiny36 05-28-2016 03:39 PM

What size did you make the picture blocks

QUILTNMO 05-28-2016 03:43 PM

Oh how nice!!!

Doggramma 05-28-2016 03:56 PM

I tried to do the photos 5x5" using Photoshop. Some are a little rectangular for some reason. Then I used white Kona to frame them.

Merrylin 05-28-2016 05:27 PM

Toby was a cutie! The quilt is beautiful. I like the quilting on it.

MOLLYDOOKER2 05-28-2016 06:58 PM

Totally agree! They really touch our hearts!

twinkie 05-29-2016 03:11 AM

I did one for my DH best friend who never married. His dog Sabastian ("Sabby") was his child. It gives you comfort when sewing this one together. This gives you a wonderful treasure to celebrate your wonderful dogs life. Good job.

joyce888 05-29-2016 03:41 AM

Aw that's so sweet! Love how your wavy lines made each look like a picture frame and the lettering for his name is perfect. Great job!

coopah 05-29-2016 04:44 AM

Sweet memories. Your excellent work really honors this fur baby.

quilterpurpledog 05-29-2016 04:53 AM

Your quilt is a touching tribute to an animal that brought you happiness without the drama that comes sometimes in our human relationships. We have had dogs in the past that brought us a lot of happiness and parting with them was hard. I know your quilt will bring you comfort as you think of your pet.

madamekelly 05-29-2016 05:47 AM

What a wonderful memory you have made. I have a grand dog that looks just like him. Her name is Nala.

EmiliasNana 05-29-2016 05:50 AM

Beautiful tribute. I have always wanted to do a portrait quilt of our deceased Goldens. We have two young ones now that are just as special. What kind of printer did you use and did you use Printed Treasures? Your photos came out so clear and crisp. I hate our current printer and have heard an Epson ink jet are the better choice. Your opinion please.

Wanabee Quiltin 05-29-2016 06:13 AM

I can't barely look at the picture of my Missy who passed last October. So sorry for your loss.

mjhaess 05-29-2016 06:14 AM

That is a treasured quilt. How we love our pets.

Walter'sMom 05-29-2016 06:16 AM

Wonderful treasure - hopefully memories will be warm and soft as this quilt

Doggramma 05-29-2016 07:24 AM

Thank you again everyone for the kind words. It really helped my sadness by working on the quilt. Yes I used Printed Treasures. We have an HP 3-in1 inkjet printer, an older one. I used Photoshop to enhance and/or crop the photos first. And I put new ink in the printer too.
