This is beautiful....your skill level is what I aspire to. I've seen your other work...amazing.

Barb in Louisiana 12-14-2017 08:30 PM

Love all your different neutrals. The quilt turned out really nice. Good job!

What an incredibly nice thing to say! Thank you.

And thank you Blue Bell and Barb, too.

I pushed the 'neutrals' envelope a little bit, with neutral extending into any light value gold or yellow or even one pink in there. It's more "Bonnie Hunter" than "Piecing the Past", LOL.

And sorry about the three extra upside-down pictures. They weren't supposed to be there.

Battle Axe 12-15-2017 03:39 AM

Great job on that top. Are you quilting this on the long arm? By hand?

Marcia

What a Beautiful Quilt!!

quilterpurpledog 12-15-2017 05:02 AM

Beautiful quilt. I think the colors are beautifully distinctive in this quilt. Sometimes, (I think) the Civil War fabrics lack distinction. It is such a lovely group of elements. Really lovely. Please show us again after you quilt it.

LOVE - CW quilts are my favorite!

LindaMRB 12-15-2017 06:06 AM

This is so nicely done! I love Civil War-era fabrics and colors and these BOMs carry it off so well. I'll have to find that pattern. . . Thanks for posting this one. Please post the quilted quilt when you are finished!

luvstoquilt 12-15-2017 06:07 AM

I think it is just gorgeous. I love the light colors. Civil war quilts do not have to be dark and brown . They used a lot of color but most have faded over the years. I refused to make any of those quilts because I don't like "dark". One day I was in a shop I really like and the owner said that is a mistake made by many quilters. She took me by the hand and showed me the reds, greens, blues, pinks and golds. She got my attention and now I am hooked!!!

Love your quilt!!

djmat 12-15-2017 07:15 AM

Heirloom quality, way to go!

DonnaPea 12-15-2017 07:28 AM

I love your fabrics!

Jordan 12-15-2017 08:42 AM

Gorgeous!!! Amazing!!! What a beautiful accomplishment. I was following this BOW and having so much fun getting just one block done a week and then life got in the way and it is now a UFO. You have inspired me to pull it out of the drawer and start making blocks again. I think I am about half way thru. Hopefully, after the holidays the chaos will slow down and I can get back to sewing again. Thank you so much for sharing your finished top. Please share with us when you have it quilted.

Great quilt, SBG. Love the colors and warm look it has. And to finish a pieced top is always good. Thanks for sharing your lovely quilt top.

Bonnie that quilt is gorgeous in every way. Such beautiful colors, and patterns for this quilt.

fred singer 12-15-2017 02:05 PM

lovely quilt

SusieQOH 12-15-2017 02:06 PM

Girlfriend, that's gorgeous!!!! I'm going to do the Autumn one. Are you?
You did a fabulous job!!

sewbizgirl 12-15-2017 02:15 PM

Thank you, my friends! Not planning to do the Autumn one, but I will cheer you on!

Marcia, I had just assumed I'd borrow my friend's longarm to do an overall stipple or squiggle on it, but since you mentioned hand quilting, you've got me thinking.... It would be so much fun to hand quilt, and since there's no rush for it, why not?

givio 12-15-2017 02:48 PM

I like your choice of prints and colors better by comparison to what the pattern showed or what the designer offered in the fabric kit. Well done! As usual, you've done a great job with your neutrals. Wishing I had your stash, and what's more, your genius. :-) That's a keeper!

Thanks, Trisha... most of what you think is genius is just happy accident, LOL.

Jingle 12-15-2017 03:53 PM

That is a very beautiful CW quilt. Can't wait to see the quilted version. You should be very proud.

sherry mcd 12-16-2017 07:30 AM

This is a beautiful quilt! Very precise piecing. Did you pick out the fabrics yourself and how long did it take you to make it? Very inspiring.

JanieH 12-16-2017 09:00 AM

Fantastic job! Your piecing is beautiful.

Kwiltr 12-16-2017 09:14 AM

Wow! Fantastic piecing and what a beautiful top! Love your use of colours!

lawsonmugs 12-16-2017 09:26 AM

Bonnie that turned out just beautiful. I haven't put mine together yet. Don't know what I'm waiting for. lol.

selm 12-16-2017 10:28 AM

I love what you've done with the Civil War fabrics. I really like them but think they are dark. You have highlighted the dark colors by the way you used the many light shades. Beautiful quilt!
I'm going to keep this in mind when I go to use my Civil War fabrics.

Yes I used my own CW stash that I've been collecting for a couple of years. A group of us here on the QB did a QAL of this quilt, when it was offered as a BOW. 18 blocks = 18 weeks, plus the two more weeks making the border and putting the quilt together. You may enjoy reading that QAL thread here:

You will find a few more finished tops late in that thread.

It turned out amazing! I wished I had seen yours before I put my top together. I played with doing it all scrappy but wasn't sure about it. Now I see yours I wished I had. You did a great job!
