I took a class last weekend with Judy Irish at a LQS. It was on fabric weaving. We had a blast. MUCH easier than I thought it would be. I still have to add some leaves I think and quilt it, but over all I'm happy with it. Colors are much brighter in person.
If I was to change the leaves around or add some, where do you think I should make changes? thanks for looking. Feels so good to finally post something that is (almost) finished! |
Double post - sorry

One more try to get the picture embedded. I still have to trim the stem ends at the bottom and stitch the dragonfly on. The dragonfly has wire in his wings so the wings will look like they are flying.

Very pretty! Love your fabric!
Love it! Sunflowers are so pretty.

Wow, that's incredibly graphic. I love the 3D sunflowers.
I've always heard of her in terms of machine quilting (I've seen her FMQ and it's amazing). I didn't know she taught quilt classes as well. |

I've always heard of her in terms of machine quilting (I've seen her FMQ and it's amazing). I didn't know she taught quilt classes as well. She gave a lecture at the local Guild show while she was here "Process Not Perfection" Basically, she does her best but doesn't sweat the small stuff. She said if you look closely at her quilts, the points don't always match. She doesn't do mitered corners b/c she hates them. That kind of stuff... It was good to listen to her. Her FMQ is incredible. Absolutely incredible... |
I love the background, it is very unusual. Great job on the quilt, I would love to have it hanging at my place.
i love it!

I love the optical illusion!!!

Your quilt is very well done. How in the world did you get that gradient of color in the purple? Is the black and white curvy checkerboard the weaving?
Beautiful quilt! Great job

Aha! Now, I understand. I have been sitting here looking at your quilt and wondering, where is the weaving? Glad you cleared that up. Very interesting quilt, and I was also wondering how you got the fade-out on the bottom portion, now I know that part too.
Very nice!
Love it! Isn't it fun to let loose and be so creative - outside the box?
That is really cool looking!!
You are a artist . It's goregous!!
Adorable quilt!
COOL!!!
WOW! That is cool!
Really great, I expecially like the way the leaves are clustered. Sometimes the single ones just seem sparce. I don't think I would change a thing with the leaves.
I love the way the yellow of the flowers just POP! Sorry - I don't have any suggestions on where to change or add the leaves. I think you've done a fabulous job as is.
Hi I know a Judy Irish in Minnesota could it be the same one?
thanks sandy |
What an outstanding job you did on this beautiful quilt! I have to learn more about this weaving technigue.
And where did you find that beautiful dragonfly? Or did you make it? |
Agreed!!!
