Not really quilting, just modifying a bag to make it custom. :-o We have several of the reusable bags that DH bought on sale 3/$1.00. I take a small piece of fabric and just slap it over the logo on the bag. That way it's custom and that way you won't get it mixed up with anyone else's bag. At 0.33¢ per bag, you sure can't make one for that price.

that is an awesome idea. I like your improved bag. You did a great job making a standard very personal. Where do you get the starter bags?

Jingle 12-20-2009 03:28 PM

That is a great idea !!!

Merry Christmas !!!

These are Walgreen's bags.

Mine have flowery material and DH is a heavy equipment mechanic. I found the loader backhoe fabric recently at a not-so-local LQS.

As big as the patch is it could almost be a pocket instead--place for greeting cards, etc. that you might pick up and not want "lost". Clever

What a great idea. I always feel funny taking my Walmart bag into Safeway

carrieg 12-21-2009 08:31 AM

Gosh ladies - thanks for the comments. I know of ladies who have made their own bags. But when the bags are .33¢ on sale, you can't beat that price. It's not quilting, but I'm glad I shared my idea with you!

The hardest part is to remember to bring them into the store! Can't seem to get that into my head. LOL

paintedquilt 12-21-2009 08:51 AM

Excellent Idea

oksewglad 12-21-2009 04:30 PM

I made several bags years ago before it was the "right" thing to do, so I've learned to just get them to the car ASAP. I still acquire plenty of plastic to use in waste baskets

jojo47 12-21-2009 10:20 PM

I'm liking all of these great ideas! Can hardly wait to try them!

glad to know im not the only one who gets in the store, starts shopping and then remembers i left my bags in the car...

3/$1 is a great deal...and it just takes a scrap to cover over the stores identifyer...hmmm, if i ever find bags big enough for that price i will have to steal your idea lol

i currently make my own reusables since i find all the ones currently sold are so small...if i can remember to take them in with me i can stop bringing the plastics back and forth lol

vic 05-12-2011 08:14 AM

Bed Bath and Beyond has hugh bags, too

What a great idea! Make it your own. Gives me ideas as I've just started using several different kinds, with logos on.

Thanks for sharing....
