This was the first quilt I made. My teacher told me I should start with an easier one but I wanted to try it. She is in the picture with me.

Hi sewmuchmore,
The pattern was in the Classic Patchwork and Quilting Book By Margit Echols. (1990) It was fun to do. It is a flip and sew .

kristen0112 08-16-2010 05:54 PM

Very beautiful, both sides. Great job.

mom-6 08-16-2010 07:04 PM

Is a 'flip and sew' a type of quilt as you go?

reach for the stars 2 08-16-2010 07:10 PM

Now how cool is that. Love it

SandyinZ4 08-16-2010 07:12 PM

Now that is cool. Did you have to make 2 separate pieces (top and bottom) and then use one as the backing? I doubt I will ever get the pattern but just wondering.

Dee 08-16-2010 07:22 PM

Nice quilt.

Lori L 08-17-2010 06:24 AM

rootyr 08-17-2010 06:26 AM

Wow, that is lovely!

Cyn 08-17-2010 06:31 AM

I just googled flip and sew but I thought you sewed the front and back of the quilt together somehow and were finished at that point?? The instructions I saw said you do it like crazy blocks foundation piecing and then bat and quilt...

wvdek 08-17-2010 06:44 AM

Taking big gulp!

Your first quilt? Wow, really nice. Love the Log Cabin pattern.

littlehud 08-17-2010 07:11 AM

leaha 08-17-2010 08:19 AM

great quilt I love log cabins, I've made several but never a two sided one, way to go, congrats on a beautiful quilt!!!!

Tallulah 08-17-2010 10:12 AM

My first quilt was a paper pieced log cabin Christmas tree quilt. It was quite the under taking for a beginner, but I didn't know that, so I did it anyway. I love that quilt.

I love your quilt, too! Nice job! :D

Ditter43 08-17-2010 10:18 AM

czgrad 08-17-2010 12:38 PM

That is AWESOME! Congratulations to both you and your teacher.

Harmony 08-17-2010 01:03 PM

I love both sides! How do you figure out which one to use? Or do you just use one side for a while and then flip it over so you have a brand new quilt???
