Here is the info on the fabric you asked about. It is Floral Master by Springs crteative Group. I bought the fabric last fall from Hancocks to do the OBW but had so many UFOs to do first so just getting around to this. I think the fabric is making some gorgeous blocks.

feffertim 04-08-2011 03:26 PM

I don't think "gorgeous" describes your blocks, but I can't think of a higher accolade at the moment.

That is going to be a spectacular OBW. If you have any remaining, could you post a pic of some of the fabric before cutting just to give those of us who have never done one an idea of what to look for in fabric. Thanks.

spartan quilter 04-08-2011 06:27 PM

Would love to see the finished quilt, also a piece of the original fabric. They are so pretty.

But they didn't have enough.

lildeb 04-09-2011 03:14 AM

That is so pretty I will have to try that. How many yards should you buy?

Essjay 04-09-2011 03:32 AM

I've never made a OBW; how much fabric do you need to make one.
Thanks.

Mary O 04-09-2011 03:38 AM

twixbar 04-09-2011 08:15 AM

Fabulous colors.

Mary M 04-09-2011 08:51 AM

Thanks for the encouagement.I too wish I had more of this fabric. I did mess up cutting one strip but had enough to replace it. I am sorta thinking of working some other faric in so I can make it bigger. I don't kow if I will ever make another one of these but I sure am glad that there were all the helpful people here to help me figure some things out. When I go to sewing the stirps together I amy be asking for help again. I really don't think the instructions in the OBW Encore were that great for sewing the pieces together. It has been a learning experience.

margie77072 04-09-2011 09:07 AM

I love the OBW, but just don't understand how it's done. Maybe I have a mental block because I've read more than on tutorial.LOL

QuiltE 04-09-2011 10:08 AM

It's gorgeous fabric ... and gets even better with the new life it takes on with the hexes. Do hope you'll show us pics as you work on it!

Please? and Thanks!

It's not a specific yardage you need.
What you need is at least six repeats, with a repeat of at least 12".
The large the quilt the more fabric ... but always a multiple of six repeats.

And extra if you are going to want to do the back of the quilt or borders in the same fabric.
