On Ringo Lake

Finally finished my ORL Quilt top. Took me forever, it seems. There are a couple of wonky bits. It feels weird not having something on my design wall.

Absolutely stunning....I seriously need to pick out my fabrics for this quilt!

QuiltnNan 07-15-2018 06:12 AM

it's beautiful

sewbizgirl 07-15-2018 06:24 AM

Turned out great! I don't see any 'wonky bits' at all. Check out the ORL thread... several of us have recently finished our quilts too. Must be something in the air... :D

Doggramma 07-15-2018 06:48 AM

What a wonderful quilt. The colors are stunning

TheMerkleFamily 07-15-2018 06:55 AM

Beautiful finish Kristen:thumbup: There was a moment of sadness when I finished my ORL a few weeks ago but then I eagerly moved on to another queen sized quilt and my design wall is quickly filling up again!

ScubaK 07-15-2018 06:58 AM

Thank you to everyone for the kind words.
I have put it away for a bit and will send it to the LA

I am still working on mine. I sure wish I had more time in the sewing room. Yours came out beautifully. This was my first mystery quilt and I am sure going to attempt others.

jmoore 07-16-2018 02:30 AM

Beautifully done Kirsten...all the recent ORL finishes keep me motivated to finish. Thank you for sharing.

Battle Axe 07-16-2018 03:04 AM

Yours came out more like what Bonnie had suggested. You stuck to the assigned colors and the quilt is spectacular. Congrats on a fine finish. Mine is on the UFO shelf.

Your quilt is beautiful.
An empty design wall is an invitation to start a new quilting journey. Enjoy the trip!

LGJARN52 07-16-2018 04:16 AM

Stunning...absolutely stunning. Wish I were brave enough to attempt something like this!!

Homespun 07-16-2018 04:41 AM

Looks great! I used Bonnie's colors too.

Rumbols 07-16-2018 07:02 AM

Looks awesome. Know what you mean about completing a project. Always feel a little lost until I find a new project to work on. Finished mine in January and it has more than a few wonky bits.

SherB 07-16-2018 12:56 PM

I am still working on my ORL. Yours looks fantastic!

auntdeb 07-16-2018 01:40 PM

WOW!! That looks very intricate. Beautiful choice of color. Hope you're keeping that one for yourself.

pinkflowers 07-16-2018 01:44 PM

Beautiful, Scubak! Mine seems like it is taking forever as well. But, I have taken several breaks from it to work on other projects.

Have you thought about the backing? I used the same fabric print on the back of En Provence. But I think I will piece the back of ORL.

Thanks for sharing!

Jingle 07-16-2018 02:26 PM

Absolutely beautiful, love the color choices.

Awesome quilt.

ube quilting 07-17-2018 02:03 AM

So pretty. ORL is still on my design board and I have enough scraps to do the full size of fifty blocks but I don't know if I want a quilt that big. Every block I finish just gets better and better. Her methods are so precise and taught me a lot about piecing.

Your quilt is a winner.

You are brave. I want to coax you to give it a try. Just start with a few blocks and if you decide you don't like it, turn it into a wall hanging, or one block into a pot holder. I didn't think I would like doing a block with 49 pieces but it has turned out to be quite meditative. Has helped me be more organized and deliberate, step by step. What I have learned about myself while working on this beauty, I can now use in all the future quilts I make, a bonus to me.

quilterpurpledog 07-17-2018 02:59 AM

Absolutely beautiful. Truly a work of art.

Gagigi 07-17-2018 03:39 AM

Love Bonnie’s mystery quilts. I have finished 3 so far. She makes it so easy with great instructions and one piece at a time. If I had any idea what the first quilt looked like would never attempted it. Looking forward to black friday to start this years mystery. Just like Ube said you can do start small then add to it if you want.
