That is awesome! He will LOVE it.

Wow! Beautiful job! I have a grandson who is obsessed with the movie "Cars". This is right up his ally. And it will last many years. Your grandson is a lucky, little boy. I'm wishing I had done something like this instead of the alphabet one I'm working on.

Debra Mc 10-26-2010 05:37 AM

It is so cute. He must be so proud. Well at least you don't have to be drunk from it anymore.

CarrieAnne 10-26-2010 05:38 AM

Very nice!

I still have this quilt on my spare bed - admiring it daily. My grandson will visit on Friday so have to have it off by then. In the mean time I showed it to his daddy - my son. That was fun! He deemed it "way cool" and said that instead of sleeping the little guy would be staring at all the blocks to see what cars are there. :)

Now - I like to piece, but DON'T like to sandwich so ... deep breath .... to get it finished. I'm thinking of tying it. Though it's a twin it's the largest I've made so ... may go that direction.

wolph33 10-26-2010 07:56 AM

he is gonna love it

jdavis 10-26-2010 08:42 AM

What an awesome Boy's quilt!

mpeters1200 10-26-2010 09:22 AM

Your quilt is beautiful and I know he will LOVE it!

I made 3 D9P's for my boys last year for Christmas. My 7 year old (now 8) received on with Lightening McQueen, a gold, and that same checkerboard fabric. When I was tie tacking it and later on when I took the pictures those checkerboard pieces moved all over. Even when the I had the quilt lying perfectly straight it looked like they were moving. That is some really odd fabric!

Your GS is going to do the Happy Dance, because his Grandma Rocks. With all that love and appreciation for Grandma's quilting, I see many quilts in his future.

sltiffee 10-26-2010 10:29 AM

Jan, where did you find that wonder fabric. My 12 year old grandson is in to Nasscar, and wants me to make him a quilt. That would be perfect for him.

JanTx 10-26-2010 11:03 AM

Hobby Lobby for the fabric. Quilt pattern is Warm Wishes. I found it on this site.

If I were doing it again I might do the checkered fabric the same size as the rest of the rails - in the pattern it's bigger than the other two.

But if you like it to strobe - I followed the pattern as written!

JEM65 10-26-2010 11:32 AM

You will own his heart for ever for this one! He will always remember the quilt his Grandma made for him!

Grammy o'5 10-26-2010 12:32 PM

It looks great and I'm sure he will love it! Is that the lucky guy in your avatar?

Keepmelaffn 10-26-2010 01:04 PM

If he's anything like my younger grandsons, he'll be so enthralled looking at the pictures on the quilt he won't want to come out of the bedroom! You did a nice job!

sltiffee 10-26-2010 01:08 PM

I can almost guarantee you that fabric will be his favourite part of the quilt. Little kids just love stuff like that. Great job!

IBQUILTIN 10-26-2010 05:16 PM

JanTx 10-26-2010 05:23 PM

My grandsons are 8 months different in age - they're cousins, not brothers! The younger one is 2 1/2 and has a monkey quilt - he's in the avatar. The older one is 3 and his pic is somewhere - page one of this thread probably - wearing his pit crew costume for Halloween. It's such great fun to have them close in age - especially now that we can go and do.

Now ... these wonderful boys are feeling a big used... I need a NEW one to add to the collection! Someone tell my daughter and SIL, please!

Bubblegum0077 10-26-2010 05:24 PM
