These are pictures from our local challenge "A River Runs Through It" displayed at Quilt Extravaganza in Berea Kentucky August 5 and 6 2011. Our group had seen an exhibit with this theme and liked it so well we wanted to do our own. We added seasons to our river. Each quilter chose a season for their quilt and then drew measurements for the left and right side of the quilt. The quilts were to be 18" wide and straight with no borders or bindings so the rivers would match. The height could vary from 14" to 24" and did not need to be straight.

We have started planning Quilt Extravaganza 2012. It will be August 3 and 4, 2012 in Berea Kentucky. Pictures of this year's event will be posted to www.bereaARTScouncil.org sometime this week. That is also where you will find information about next year's event beginning February or March of 2012. Mark your calendar's and plan to come. We had a really, really great show this year and plan for a better one next year.

That was so wonderful to see. Each and everyone seems to be a work of art.
speaking of works of art, your avatar is so wonderful |
I came to the show for first time. I was pleasantly surprised. It's not a large show, but a good one. The quilts made in "The River Runs Through It" were phenomemal. I don't know who came up with the original idea but it was fantastic. I hope to introduce something similar to my guild in Florida. What a way to get the "creative juices" flowing.
