Quilters are great recylclers! Great find. I would be caucious of the wood as well.

take your inside cubby measurements to the dollar store...you may be able to find clear plastic bins that will fit inside.

Jacquie, thanks for the idea of the acid tissue for the insides.. I hadn't decided what to do, and though I hadn't thought of your suggestion, I think it will be alot prettier than shoe boxes, lol. I wanted to find some plastic boxes to use, but none would fit inside to hold fat quarters.. so I thought too, of taking fabric scraps, and mod podging them to the boxes to make it at least look "quilty" from the front, lol.. Happy Holidays to you you from here in eastern Oregon.. I have some dear friends in Muskogee ( DJ and Melinda Jernigan ) - so you being in Enid, makes you an automatic " friend" too. :thumbup:

great find...but you are correct...never put fabric on bare wood...the oils will leach into the fabric and cause it to either discolor or rot....
clean it up and paint really good...then just use plain acid free tissue on the shelves before placing fabric on them!

Wow, that is a great find. If you paint the inside of the cubby holes, you should be able to store fat quarters in them then.
