I need one of those for my nephew!! And he WOULD wear it in public! LOL

Call me if you're still awake.

kwhite 11-15-2009 10:03 PM

Sarah is sick and asleep on the couch behind me. One of our conversations would surely wake her up. I am heading in now too.

gaigai 11-15-2009 10:07 PM

OK. Sweet walmart people dreams!

Poor Pip. Hugs to her!!

wvdek 11-15-2009 11:57 PM

It's almost 3 am and I had to stop looking because I was ROFLOL so bad I just knew I would wake someone or pee my pants.

I have to watch our local Walmart people more closely-or not!

It's kinda like looking at pictures of a disaster. They are horrible, but you keep coming back for one more look. Shudder.

Quilt4u 11-16-2009 02:50 AM

Wow!!! How nice of you.

bearisgray 11-16-2009 08:20 AM

The stars you put around the center are perfect -

I noticed that KLue has sent the Friendship Star block several times to use in "group quilts" - so it seemed like a good choice on a couple of levels.

Very dramatic looking.

dannypanny 11-16-2009 11:45 AM

What a lovely gesture. Your first round looks great. I am sure klue will love it. ciao

dannypanny 11-16-2009 11:52 AM

Hi love your centre. It is great. I also saw the one with the friendship stars. What a difference a border can make to the centre. your quilts will look so different and yet so beautiful when finished. ciao

Sparky 11-16-2009 03:57 PM

The quilt is fantastic, but help me understand the story. Whats IRR?

wvdek 11-16-2009 04:12 PM

IRR is 'International Round Robin'.

Esqmommy 11-17-2009 07:14 AM

I can't get over how fantastic the border is here Gai!! When I first saw it, I sent a PM to KLue because I didn't realize this was going on...I'd love to be a layer (or a 'rouge robin') if anyone has to drop out for any reason!! I love KLue, and was really sad to see she dropped out of the IRR with her beautiful centers and all that hard work. She is certainly one of our most talented quilters and her absence just sucks!!! (to be blunt)

Keep on posting, these are awesome!

kluedesigns 11-17-2009 09:32 AM

Gai...your addition looks great....glad you guys are having fun!

gaigai 11-29-2009 11:45 PM

Thanks Patti, we are! I had to crack up when KLue showed me her flying geese! That is too funny after my "Holy Crap..." remark! LOL

Lacelady 11-30-2009 10:41 AM

Hi. Guys, only just catching up on this thread, because I kind of lost it, not getting any reminders. Gai, what on earth did you mean with your comment. I might LIKE applique, but it doesn't necessarily follow that I am good at it. For all you know, my stitches might look as if I chewed them! (I hope they don't, but you never know, LOL). Anyway, I look forward to getting your parcel soonish, as I now have an idea what to do next, providing I can make it work. Please remind me, am I to put a 5in border on?

HEADLINE NEWSFLASH!!!
Today in County Sligo, Ireland, a local woman's nose began to grow like Pinocchio's. "It's really quite remarkable" noted a neighbor. "Evidently it began when she made a disparaging comment about her applique ability. She's really exceptionally good at it, you know!"

kluedesigns 11-30-2009 12:47 PM

LMAO

that pic is the best!

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am splitting my sides here - thankfully, that pic doesn't resemble me at all. OK, I give in, yes, I like applique, and it doesn't look too bad - as long as it doesn't fray, then I am happy.

Sheree from Chicago 11-30-2009 03:01 PM

Quilter are the best!!!!!!!!! The piecing is awesome.

What is the IRR and Klue, is everything OK?

kluedesigns 12-01-2009 03:59 AM

the IRR is a round robin quilt project where a bunch of people form a group and they mail their quilt centers around and the other people add borders.

i was supposed to be a part of a group but i had to drop out.

when some of the people on the forum heard they started this small group to work on my center.

they're absolutely wonderful people.

sandpat 12-01-2009 05:52 AM

Sheree, you might want to either do a search for IRR group 1 through group 10....or watch the recent topics in the next few days. You will find that there are threads for 10 different groups doing a Round Robin this year. Its the 2nd year for board members to do this. Each group has 6 people and the quilt centers are flying around the world. Its tons of fun...It lasts for approximately a year, so you have plenty of time to watch...maybe you can join us next year! :-D

kwhite 12-01-2009 06:12 AM

Patti how many IRR's were there last year?

Ninnie 12-01-2009 06:19 AM

Well, I have been gone for a few days, so have so catching up to do. was reading here, and now I have spit coffee all over my screen!!!
love both works on your centers Klue!!!

Last year there were 3 full groups and a 4th group that had only 5 people, so the quilts finished a bit smaller. Unfortunately, the person who organized the groups is no longer a member of this board, so there aren't pictures of all the finished groups on here. There are a lot of them shown here though http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-26814-1.htm It was amazing how it grew this year

kwhite 12-01-2009 06:45 AM

Thanks Patti. It is too bad that all of the pictures of all of the hard work are not available, but the ones I saw are beautiful.

Ok, it was my turn to do the next round for Klue, and I went with the same Cecil B De Mille theme, and gave Klue a dressing room mirror with a few make up products. I hope this is OK. It was quite hard to depict bright lights, and my photo doesn't show the shine I have going out from each light bulb, because it only catches the light from the side somehow, though she will notice it when it gets back sometime next year.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that you think it is OK Klue, and that you don't need that truck load of tissues again.

Lace that is beautiful! What a great idea. This is shaping up to be a real art piece.

Hmmm, it's Ducky's turn next, so she might not love me for this. She's at work at the moment, so perhaps she hasn't spotted it! Sowwy, Ducky!
