I don't think it really matters to anyone or that they will even know. I love the quilt. You have done a fabulous job.

Give them some food or hay on the ground or dirt....but if you leave it as is, will still look good...I love the bright colors...almost bought the patterns myself...but not my decor...so have to stop somewhere!! Right??? maybe not!!
