I really like your quilt! That Route 66 fabric is perfect. I have traveled that road in the 'distant' past. I know someone who attends that auction will go away super happy with a treasure.

As foundation, I sew onto well-worn thin bed sheets cut into squares. The method I use is from the Welsh Quilter website: http://welshquilter.blogspot.com/200...as-you-go.html I vary the technique slightly, mainly in the order or direction that I sew. I do sew down the last step by hand, because I am not pleased with my lack of accuracy when done by machine. However, a lot of people do every step by machine very successfully. Some QAYG methods have you do the piecing with the batting and backing in place. That truly does seem like QAYG. I completely piece my blocks and then sandwich them and quilt them. Just easier for me to keep things flat and neat. QAYG works for me, and I have done many quilts that way, most of which I have posted on this website. I hope you will enjoy your project! |

What a terrific way to expand a piece that you like but don't have a lot of. Thanks for giving me the idea too. Nice of you to share.
