I love stack and whack. Your's is gorgeous. They remind me of the old toys we used to shake and look inside at all the different colors.
I'm new at this and a lot of the terminology does not compute with me. Please explain S & W.
Really love the colors. That is so neat. Thanks for sharing.
Love your sashing and love stack and whacks too.

Very colorful quilt, will make a wonderful raffle quilt.
beautiful. love the design and the colors.
I think your S&W is one of my favorite of all I've seen! Never made one, but they look like fun.
I think that has to about be my fav of all the S&Ws I've ever seen. I keep wanting to make one for just that surprise element, but I've seen enough that I really don't care for the finished product that is kind of scares me away from them. I really like the way you finished it, which really ties it all together. Masterpiece!
Gorgeous quilt. You did an amazing job.

So sorry for not being more specific! S & W stands for Stack & Whack. Someone else might be better at explaining this, but on this quilt it involved stacking 8 layers of fabric and cutting them into wedges. All 8 layers of fabric have to be lined up with the exact same repeat pattern all the way through, so that when you lay the wedges out in a pie shape, each block will have the kaleidoscope effect. Hope this is helpful! |
It's lovely. I, too, like the pinwheels.

Gorgeous, I love your stack and whack. I made my first last year, made 3 more because it was so much fun. I'm planning to make two more this year, it's such a fun process. I really like the addition of pinwheels in the sashing, just perfect.

Gorgeous! Love the pinwheels in the corners -- adds just the right touch.

I love your stack and whack. Could you share what the original fabric looked like? Do you put a segment of the original fabric on the back. I've seen some S&W quilts here that have done that and it's always such a delight to see how the fabric is transformed. Your placement is just beautiful too!
Someone is going to love that quilt.
I love your quilts but have to tell you that when I read your title I didn't think that S & W meant Stack and Whack. I had been looking at a brochure on handguns right before I got on line to check out the board and I was curious as to how you made a Smith and Wesson quilt in black. I guess I need to learn how to switch my brain in between tasks. :-)
Can you post a photo of your original fabric or don't you have enough left. It is always fun to see what you start with on a S & W.

One of the prettiest SnWs I've seen. They arevery addictive. I've made about 8 and have to stop myself making another when I see suitable fabric.

That is beautiful. Love the colors. I wish you had posted a pic of the fabric before you cut it. I have to make one of these, it's been a while since I did a S&W. Add it to my list
Look S&W up online. It's fun and easy.
I would love to see the fabric you used before making the quilt. Also, did you use a pattern? Love the pinwheels but have no idea how to insert those.
Beautiful! I love those colors against the black.
Nicely Done! I love the colors! Luann in CT
