Keep going, that is a great scrappy. Like how the denim strips pull it all together. It is definitely not too much. Look at some of the other scrappy quilts that have been posted. Yours looks masculine and I'm sure your DS will love it.

This is a very "guy" kind of quilt and I'll bet he'll love it. It looks good and I like the use of dark blue to anchor the design. Plus, once you get it quilted, it will all look better to you. By all means, finish it.
