Sample modern placemats
 

I designed these placemats for a wedding gift, but wanted to try it out first, so fabrics from my stash.
The gift will be solid colors ... Therefore easier to cut pieces with out a pattern grain. These will be given to our youngest daughter -- just because

I use Warm and White batting...nice and thin and I find after the placemats are washed and keep their shape. Thank you for looks and your question :)

I like the modern feeling in your newly designed placemats. I am anxious to see the lovely pattern in the colors you choose for your daughter. There are certainly a lot of color and/or patterned fabric opportunities using this pattern.

Oh my goodness, i am overwhelmed by all of your positive responses... I can send any one who is interested the unit sizes . Placemats finished at 12-1/2" x 15-1/2". Our grandson put them directly on their table this morning when the placemats were gifted. :)

Lovely. I can see this in a large quilt with patriotic colors for a veteran, and the dark blue being a red instead.
