Sampler quilt top finished

This is a sampler quilt that is mostly based off of one in the book Bella Bella Sampler quilts. The blocks are mostly paper pieced, it was my first time doing large amounts of paper piecing and I decided I don't like it very much. I would do it again for small amounts but not for anything this big. I ended up being happy with the results but was frustrated getting it done.
The background behind the half circles is a fabric I've been trying to use up for a few years. Normally I only buy with a particular project in mind, I bought 2 yards of this and it totally didn't work in my project. Note to self: never ever again buy a fabric with the color name of "Pond Scum"! |
What great and different blocks ... very nice
I think it is beautiful and I don't see any "pond scum" - although I can't imagine naming a fabric that.
Really beautiful sampler quilt-very different and gorgeous. But, I can see your point about the amount of time it takes to do paper pieced blocks. But, in my opinion, the results were worth the time.
Thanks for tip about fabric named "pond scum" lol . Really do like your sampler quilt. The layout is awesome. Great job. :)

It looks pretty amazing to me, surely not like "pond scum"! LOL!
It's done and it's beautiful!! Clever use of the "Pond Scum" fabric...quite the name, but it looks good with the rest of the quilt. Enjoy!

You did a great job and looks amazing!
Gorgeous quilt, pond scum and all! One of my favorite sampler quilts to date. I love all the colors and the way you used them. Great job.............
This is NOT your grandmother's sampler! I can see why you were frustrated with the amount of time spent, but this is an heirloom quality quilt and definitely worth every minute. BTW I love the pond scum colors, but not the name.
Beautiful quilt! The Bella Bella samplers are really neat! Nice work!
I can understand how frustrating and overwhelming that much paper piecing could be, but the results are stunning! You did a fabulous job. The "pond scum" fabric works marvelously. I wonder why any company would even use that for a name.

beautiful quilt, nicely done
Its beautiful and I love your "pond scum". Don't get discouraged with PP it is just so different than our usual sewing technique. The more you do the more you will like it, its much easier to get those funny angles and great points.
turned out great
Very interesting layout. Good job.
Wow! Beautifully done.
Absolutely beautiful!! Love the blocks, will have to look up the book as I love to paper piece.
Absolutely beautiful quilt and wonderful use of your fabrics!
It is Beautiful!!
"Sampler" doesn't do it justice! It's more a "work of art". Are the fabrics batiks?
Super job on this beautiful quilt!
