I just upgraded to a new Gammill and wanted to take her for a spin. This lap throw is a sampler of quilting motifs for 12" square blocks...I love my new machine!!

Im soooooooooooooooooo jealous. this is beautiful. Did you do this all freehand or by computer. Gorgeous either way :)

TrenbeathRanch 09-06-2011 04:23 PM

I used my workstation to make the circles, the rest was freehand. Thanks for the wonderfully flattering remarks, ladies...oh, my head!

MamaBear61 09-06-2011 04:24 PM

Spectacular, I will never have that kind of talent.

suebee 09-06-2011 04:25 PM

#1piecemaker 09-06-2011 04:33 PM

Absolutely beautiful. I'm certainly going to consider the gammel when I get my longarm!! Lovely work!!

Phannie1 09-06-2011 04:35 PM

Ok. is this done with a LAQ with computer or freehand quilting? I am trying to teach myself freehand quilting on my machine. So far nothing I have done is this beautiful.

what type of batting did you use on this?

TrenbeathRanch 09-06-2011 04:44 PM

No computer...just freehand. Although, Gammill does have a great method to help you make perfect circles. Trust me, I wasn't born with this ability. You can get here, too! Don't give up, just keep practicing!

wuv2quilt 09-06-2011 04:45 PM

Hobbs Poly-Down...quilts like a dream.

suebee 09-06-2011 04:54 PM

Ive got to try that batting. I think other LA'rs here on the board use that as well. Ive never tried it, but going to now, LOL. Thank you for sharing.

mandyk 09-06-2011 05:05 PM

Did you get the Vision? It's awesome. Do I see an Irena Blumr influence?

TrenbeathRanch 09-06-2011 05:11 PM

Yes, I got the 30" Vision...boy, do I love this machine! Excellent eye! Irena Bluhm has been a tremendous influence in my technique, as well as Linda Taylor and Sue Clarke. I suspect that my style is a combination of all of their work.
