Sand 'n Sea

2 Attachment(s)
For my son, who hasn't seen it yet. 483 half square triangle blocks (double bed size). The label reads "I love you more than every grain of sand on the beach and every drop of water in the sea". Simple serpentine quilting stitch to emulate waves. Thanks for looking.

humminn 07-04-2019 11:45 AM

Very nice, that's a lot of hst. You give me courage to try a few things with my scraps and hst scraps

Wonderful quilt. That's a whole lotta HST to put together. Are there 483 unique ones, or do you have some fabrics repeated?

QuiltMom2 07-05-2019 02:45 AM

How long were you collecting fabrics for that?? It's beautiful!!

Suzanne in VT 07-05-2019 02:58 AM

What size HST's did you use for this quilt? It is just beautiful and will be treasured forever, I'm sure!

What gorgeous fabrics. Ugh, on the # of HSTs but the effect is worth it. Love the label and your choice of simple quilting.

There are doubles in there, mostly what I had in my stash.

I used what I had. And then I ran out and was nowhere near finished! So I purchased a blue/tan fabric line by Pam Buda called Mrs. Miller's Apprentice.

They are 4" finished. In retrospect, I should have probably made it easier on myself an made them a little bigger! Live and learn, I do like the effect, though.

sewbizgirl 07-05-2019 07:19 PM

Very handsome quilt! Like your wavy lines quilting, too.

BrendaK 07-05-2019 09:01 PM

Love it. BrendaK

I made them slightly larger, then trimmed each to size/squared up using the bloc loc ruler. After that, they fit together pretty well.

loisf 07-06-2019 06:52 AM

Well, your quilt should be a commercial for the Bloc Loc Ruler. But I know, that's only half the story. You must be a very exacting and careful quilter. It's a wonderful quilt that your son will always treasure.

annievee 07-06-2019 09:03 AM
